This one still seems to be steadily limping along. At a certain point, its easier to add more content to an existing (if somewhat broken) system than it is to build a new system entirely to run essentially the same game.
Microsoft isn't buying Zenimax media for ESO. The singleplayer IPs they get out of this deal will be infinitely more profitable in the long term. I'm not sure why some of you seem to think they're just going to swoop in and replace the current development team. They have been very hands-off with studios that they have acquired in the past and I don't see that changing now. Either way, the sale will not even be finale until sometime in 2021. "ESO 2" is extremely unlikely.

Think it would happen? It's just wishful thinking on my part.

I never said anything about the current dev team being replaced.

Will there be an ESO 2? Probably.
Anytime within the next 5 years? Unlikely.
Will it cater to the hardcore any more than ESO currently does? Very unlikely.

eso does not cater to end game are you joking lol
The decision makers at Microsoft have probably never heard of ESO, let alone any interest in it, it will be a small number on a spreadsheet.
It's not like Bill Gates has bought it so he can buff his Templar toon.
