Thanks for that but you're making an assumption, which makes your post pointless. I played Halo before Bungie sold it to Microsoft and in my opinion, the game play suffered.

Seriously as long as Microsoft can refrain from just feeding us the same game for 9 years I'm pretty sure we'll be fine. How hard is it to make a ES story anyhow? "You are X, Chosen of the Seven Seas, Lord Herald of Sky Mountains, Akatoshes Favorite Binky and you must save the world from The Daedric Prince of Slightly Hostile Muffins." I mean lets be honest most of the charm in ES games is the actual world building/dialogue options and not really the main story.1 -

I doubt microsoft would be ok with Bethesda and Zenimaxs care free attitude towards bugs. Easy to keep that money flowing so ESO not likely at risk.
TES VI on the other hand is a different ballgame. There’s a chance they make it exclusive, but they risk NOT cashing in on a huge playerbase. $70 x potentially millions of PS5 by the time it’s ready for release is nothing to sneeze at.
If it gets a PS5 release they prob get my $70 as a pre-order or day 1 release. Make it exclusive and you wait till i get around to building another gaming PC, which may not happen at this point in life. You pay to help your business. There are assets that MSFT values. There are also likely some that MSFT does not value. I have been part of a company purchased for more than that and sometimes profitable products are cut for various reasons. Our company wasn't bought to destroy that product. That product just didn't fit into the goals of the purchaser.
You will often see large companies sell a business unit to another company. That is because keep that business alive might be detracting from focus or the margins might not feel worth it. But a more focused company might value that business more. Apple or Google might buy a company just for their patents, with little interest in continuing their product lines.0 -

Without MS Halo would have never been anywhere nearly as successful as it was, IMO. It was the original "killer app" game for the Xbox, and thanks to bundling and special editions, the franchise gained a foothold in a very crowded market.
It might be edgy to say that MS killed AC, but SOE killed AC by way of Everquest. By the time Turbine got their act together and started making new content for AC, EQ had already pioneered the concept of the expansion pack. EQ was on expansion #3 when the first xp for AC dropped, and then Turbine decided to work on AC2 while EQ churned out a run of expansions. By the time AC's 2nd XP finally dropped, EQ was on #9 (Dragons) and #10 hit 2 months later.
