Controller Support?

I asked this a while ago in beta and figured it would turn up by launch. Does anyone know if the pc version is gonna get controller support anytime soon? The need to use keyboard+mouse for the combat and stuff is the only thing I don't like about this game.

Well, since most people don't like playing at a disadvantage, I don't think it's a high priority.

That said, I know that plenty of people (including reviewers) have said they had no problem using a controller with the game.

AFAIK they haven't officially promised to add controller support to the PC version. They would have to completely redesign the menu system for controllers, since they are currently cursor based.

I use XPadder. Once you get your profile set up it works flawlessly, excluding menus. You can use a controller as a cursor in menus but it's clunky. I use a trackball mouse for menus (since it doesn't need a mouse pad).

I don't feel at all disadvantaged as a controller user. Since there's no fine-grained aiming required like in an FPS, controllers really shine on ESO once properly configured. And there's the side benefit of tendonitis not flaring up from hours of keyboard/mouse use.

I just thought it wouldn't be that difficult to add some type of controller support since they will be releasing this on consoles eventually.

Can anyone turn me on to some good tutorials or something for using xpadder? I've never used it before.

There's some tutorials online. There's a freeware version (not pirated, it's free), but it's very outdated. I'm not sure how well it would work. I use the paid version.

There's other controller software too. I can't speak for any others though.

Wow, I always attributed the horrific interface to it being a port from console. (Even though console hasn't been released yet.) I always thought, well at least if I ever want to switch to a controller and just sit back and relax the interface is already designed around it.

So we get this atrociously awful console port of an interface without even the benefit of integrated controller support? Meh, probably would have never gotten around to setting up a controller anyway.

I use pinnacle controller, someone pointed it out on nexus. I had to pay 10 bucks for it but was able to try it before I purchased. Easy install and easy to setup. Combat and exploring the core of the game is perfect on the controller since you don't need to have precise aim. However I still use the mouse and keyboard to do things in the menu like making groups or buying and selling, listening about lender bezzzzz.
