Player fail! (Note: I am that player)

So my stamina psijic necromancer is bopping around Skyrim when I see on zone chat that someone wants a group to take on Skreg. So I join the group, and teleport to the player... and get utterly confused when I see a wayshrine. So I start running to the actual fight, see on chat, that it's about to start, and try to teleport to the leader of the group...

... and wind back up at the wayshrine.

"I must be doing something wrong," I think to myself, as if somehow I was clicking on the option with JUST THE WRONG AMOUNT OF PRESSURE on my mouse button, and try to teleport to player AGAIN. And AGAIN. AND AGAIN...

Wayshrine, wayshrine, wayshrine!

Because that's how it works, obviously. When you choose teleport to player you don't actually teleport to the player, you teleport to the nearest wayshrine to the player. But I didn't know that. I have been playing this freaking game since it was first released but I never had to use that feature until THIS EVENING.

Needless, to say, I missed the fight. It also cost about 2K gold to teleport anywhere after that, so I had to jog back to the wayshrine in shame.

Lol, i have done the same...Yes, you will always travel to a Wayshrine when you port to a player.

Note, you can travel to any player you are in a group with, or a friend on your friends list, or your guild roster. There by avoiding those higher transport costs. Or, any home you own. Note, a number of the free rooms at the inns are near a wayshrine, just have a couple load screens. On PC, those are nothing, Consoles i guess have a bit of delay
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Porting to player will always take you to the nearest wayshrine to him. You have to ride or run to his location.

Note that its some wayshrines you can not fast travel too, its the ones you are sent to if you die and respawn at wayshrine or port to player inside. an sort of pedestal, its everywhere from delves, pubilc and group dungeons even trials.
Player housing have it too but its at the entrance.

Still you can fast travel to players in delves, public dungeons or houses.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

My best fail is jumping off a cliff and having the food buff run out halfway to the ground. Instant death. Hilarious actually, can’t even be mad about that!

My escapade had some similarities to that, since after the first teleport to player, I was standing at the wayshrine I kept teleporting to. So all I saw was loadscreen/me standing where I was a second ago, over and over and over and over again.

I've done this on purpose a few times when meeting someone and we end up in different instances.

This brings up a good point. When grouped, you may be in a different instance or shard then those you are grouped with, so port to crown or someone in group.

Note, the chat message /jumptoleader is a fast port, helpful during world boss runs and such when you port a number of times

Note that this might help as populated zones has multiple instances.
Say you are in Rawl or Belkarth and want to trade, porting to player will move you to his instance.

Fun note you can port to players in guilds, they are in an delve you have not done, port to them :)

Yup found that one out the hard way - if my (grouped) friends are invisible, port to them.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis
