A lot of players cured their vampirism due to Vampire Themed DLC

Ironic.
This should have increased the number of vampire players. Instead, we got too many drawbacks with useless skills.

Well, changes for purpose of change may backfire. Happens too much with software in general because serewing it up and pushing the wreck to users is so easy. (Currenty more annoyed of recent update to Firefox for Android than anything ESO.)

    Favorite Foods and Potions

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

But there should have been a happy medium. ZoS don't do happy mediums. It's either OP/can't live without or complete trash. You see the same with sets too. They're either useless outside of niche builds or a necessity. If the end game wasn't so punishing for those participating in it, then niche would be fine. Niche is only for SP only or those who rarely step foot in end game content.

But that comes with an 8% ability cost increase to regular skills, made worse by the fact that the vampire's active skills aren't well rounded enough to make use of most of their skills to combat the cost increase. So is it really an advantage?

wouldnt be so bad if the drain spell was the ranged equivalent of the close range spam though slightly weaker due to heal atm the drain spell is so abysmally bad it actively handicaps you for using it.
then theres the fact the ability cost for non-vampire abilities goes up the higher your stages, fine but ultimate abilities to!? nah not worth it at that point, the vampire scion CAN be useful but in most cases you are more likely to slot something more related to your class.
Swarming Scion is the clear better version of the ultimate as well because huge AoE+heals where as the other morph only disables drawbacks for 15 seconds... yay? it should REVERSE the downsides during it not negate them so a perfected scion (stage 5) has increased fire resistance, less ability cost and 100% bonus health regen with the stage 4 less vampire skill cost on top of it. would make this ultimate inline with swarming because it would be useful to both tanks and healers due to the magicka, stamina and health refill + temporary cost reduction & health regen

No, it shouldn't have. There were way too many vampires and almost all of them just wanted to get the free passives without having any meaningful drawbacks whatsoever.
Greymoor finally fixed a problem that should have been fixed years ago.

    ZOS never uses a chisel.

Blood for blood needed to be looked at because literally every magic class was using it for their spammable which isnt healthy imo.

However it was one of the only useable abilities in the kit, they couldive just reduced the damage so it wouldive been the sustain option over your class spammable but pulling less dps.

Many of us paid real money for some of our Vamps and as presented, it has been gutted and is not USEFUL.

The entire arbitrary Stages 1 to 4 are a ridiculous mechanic that's a huge part of the problem as the cost increases extremely heavy handed to the point of I QUIT being a Vamp on all but 1...which is rarely used.

Basically if this was a Vamp class game, Zos would have killed their game like Sony did with Star Wars Galaxies after their NGE Combat rebalance.

If we are being entirely honest pretty much all of those vampires were just people looking for a free buff. There is pretty much zero chance that they ever used any of the skills.

So I don’t really have a problem, in terms of people who actually want to play as a blood sucking vampire it’s probably created a few.

I’ve set up a vampire since they released the content and it’s been fun, wouldn’t take it into a veteran dungeon but you know breath of fresh air and all that.

The passives are somewhat balanced, not for everyones build as it was but still useful.
I wanted a playstyle like the greymoor trailer vampires and ended with an stamcro vampire I Realy love to play and on top it is very effective.

But those active skills are, beside mistform and the vamp lord ulti for templars, all for the trash bin + they look over animated and cartoonish.

Vampire is underperforming compared to just a normal class's kit. End up doing less damage with it in PVP due to it's lack of damage dealing skills, and of course if I try to mix skills that work in with the vampire stuff I get severely punished for it.

Finding myself at stage 1 and using vampire to ignore the sneak speed penalty, but not actually taking it for the skills. Against low skill players the vampire stuff is powerful, but against high skill players you're gimping yourself.

I couldn't agree with you more. We may have lost a lot of the Vampires who were in it for the passives, and the look. But we gained a lot of Vampires who really want to play the skill line. And I heard several people in several zones asking for Vampire bites last night.

Isn't the entire year vampire theme, not just one DLC?

Overall this year I would expect a number of players would have cured themselves of vampirism since it went from simple beneficial passives to an actual full skill line with some real costs for using and being a vampire (literally and figuratively).

I figure this is similar to what happened with Thrassian's as well - something was OP and nerfed, but it was nerfed with a sledgehammer instead of a scalpel.

Before Greymoor, vampirism was basically required for endgame, especially for support roles, because of the free recovery passives. Very few people actually ran the game as vampires, they instead went around with stage 4 so they could get the magicka regen for free.

"The new way breaks the lore!" Yeah, but you're implying that 90+% of endgame characters who are vampires and intentionally starving themselves is lore-friendly? The whole point of vampires in TES lore is that they're 1)rare, and 2) feed often to try to fit in, unless they're evil mindless beasts (aka not members of the Undaunted)

The new way basically requires you to act like a vampire to play as a vampire - feed on NPCs and use vamp abilities, but now it swung a bit too far in the other (also against lore) direction. Now, vampirism is pretty much an RP-only thing - not that that's bad, but there is a lot less choice in building a vampire character as anything other than "I vant to suck your blood!" Even in Morrowind, we had the three lines - mag based, stealth based, and power based - and here there's really just magblade vampires as the only truly viable option.

But honestly, it's not a biggie for me. Werewolves are cooler anyway.

    You'd be correct if it wasn't for one insy, weensy, tiny little glaring issue;

They had free passives because they were punished for feeding. They would lose their passives as they fed. If you were at Stage 1, you literally were only added access to Savage Feeding and Blood Ritual as passives. So blaming the players for staying Stage 4 in that iteration of vampirism isn't their fault for a line that was forcing them to stay Stage 4 anyways if they wanted to even slightly engage with the line (because using your vampire abilities upped your stage).

But of course, it's the players' fault for wanting a much more thought out, engaging skill line than the former and current iteration of what ever this is.

Ah. So you just do overland stuff that can be done by anyone at any level and/or with a huge group of people?

Tell us more about how this proves vamp isn't an RP line and is designed well.

I can go do all of those things you just mentioned with no gear and punching with fists. Does that mean wanting to play as a Big Chest Nord Fist Brawler is a viable strat?

Yup. If you want us to use active skills, listen to our feedback and make those skills actually worth using. As it stands, we have
    a weak magicka melee spammable,
    a suicide button,
    a weak healing channel,
a CC which doesn't work half the time,
a mobility skill bandaiding class design flaws
and a passive stat boost ultimate which flies in the face of the re-vamp's intention of promoting active skills.
Yes, you can roleplay in overland content with it, but if I wanted to roleplay, I would be playing Skyrim. Vampire RP is ten times better there. I cannot afford to roleplay in front of vet Z'Maja +3 and therefore vampirism had to go. And this is most people's conclusion.

Keep in mind FOTM change often, vamp is still damn good just not mandatory like it was. As for the skill line its self, it's about the same as WW. Though unlike WW you can weave vamp skills and passives in to a build where WW only get them while transformed
