Maintenance for the week of April 6:

Ingame GM's to clear public dungeons.

Every low level public dungeon is filled with botters, and they've moved into shadowfen. For new players it makes the game look extremely bad and it's extremely difficult to target 15 different people and report them when theyre all named a variant of dghshawadas. One in game GM for each faction could spend 2 hours going to each public dungeon and clean house and make the game much more enjoyable for those just starting and those who are working on alts. I'd like to know why this isn't happening. Someone in charge denied more overtime or additional staff, or....... Oh wait that's the only logical reason.

End the tedious inventory management game.

I just went to two different locations in Deeshan NA server. The one took me 5 tries just to get a hit to get credit for the completion achievement.

maybe the could code in an area effect around the boss spawn, anything that doesnt evacuate dies.

This would be a fairly easy fix, and even if not a complete fix it is better than nothing. People have asked for it multiple times. No idea why ZOS isn't doing it.

I agree. I'm completely turned off by the amount of bots. Many I have seen are still around after being reported last week. They've made their way out of the dungeons and are now traveling in packs around enemy "strongholds".

I understand that a dedicated staff member might be out of the question due to procedures and the disciplinary process, but perhaps you could implement some kind of verification process. For example, if you get reported for cheating/exploiting, a box pops up asking you to enter the random string of numbers and letters provided within a certain amount of time (like those annoying captchas), else be booted with a lockout timer. This would require human interaction on their part and essentially kill the bot. Of course some people would likely abuse this and report players at random in order to grief, just so they have to stop and enter a code.
Something needs to be done. It's ruining my gaming experience, as well as others, I'm sure.

Another thing that may cut the numbers down is to make soul gems worth 0g.

To be honest, I am not certain they are all botters.
In eastmarch I adventured in and found a large crowd camping a boss, and to my surprise they all talked back, as human as could be.

A lot of people know the worth of doing this, so they like to camp it.
I think the easiest solution to this would be to add a loot Cooldown timer on them.
You kill it, you get your loot.
5 Minutes before you can receive loot off it again.

    LOL, no... they are bots.

Names + their reaction to boss spawn = bot.
  • chizarira39rwb17_ESO
You can tell the bots, they just all clump together - I have been just as guilty of camping a boss, but I only usually kill it 3 or 4 times and then move on. And I usually run around killing other stuff while waiting for it to respawn, the bots dont do that

I have no problem with real players farming the bosses, as long as they're there putting in the effort. I've killed the same boss several times just to see what unique loot it drops. The bots, however, are easy to spot. They're the ones all standing on top of each other. If you knock the boss away they will follow it then immediately run back to the same spot. I noticed today in Cragshadow Mines that the 12 or so bots would run out two or three at a time (individually) and jog halfway across the map on foot, passing several vendors, just to sell (I can only assume) at this one particular vendor. They would then proceed to run all the way back and stand in the exact same spot.

They pump $$$ into Zenimax bank account, so why ban them?
3 weeks have passed, so the only logical reason is that Zenimax gains more profit allowing them to stay in game than the opposite.

I recommend that once you get credit for killing a boss, you can never loot it again. I almost want to say the same for anchors but... I don't know if that is the answer for them.

They lose money when legitimate, potentially long-term, players start canceling their accounts. They've already given Zenimax the money for the account so there's no reason NOT to ban them.

I know that I have tried to get a hit on a boss through all the botters and have therefore stuck around longer than I like.

I also can tell most of the botters by bringing in outside mobs and watching them go into a "feeding" frenzy. Some times I have to wait on the other side of the bots to block the first mob attack to set them in motion.

It's a small, maybe even petty, tiny bit of pleasure I get when I run around the area bringing in all the mobs I can. :)

This action can also, sometimes, allow another player a chance at getting the first hit.

I must agree there, if they are doing something bad for Zenimax they would clear them long time ago. This way they both profit and just ignore us. Maybe, crazy theory, they gave them those 30 days to exploit, our 30 free days we all got when bought game and after may 4th they will actually clear them. Or wont and it will stay like this.

Realistically zenimax would make more money by banning their account and forcing them to buy a new one.

Sometimes I stop and wonder are these bots from blizzard...? Maybe they want WoW to last a few more years. Hmmm questions...

Was in a dungeon last night in Cold Harbour, there were 9 bots. We knock back the boss and they all followed each other to it like a conga line. Took me almost 1 hour and 9 spawns to get credit.

It's impossible to "clear" bots with one, simple solution. If you think ZOS hasn't been banning them in waves then you're an idiot.

This is true, most of the action so far has been against gold sellers from what we've seen. While having gms going in and taking the time to sort the botters from the one or two legitimate players trying to get credit for clearing the dungeon isn't the best solution it is in theory a good one. The legitimate players are normally standing there talking in /say about how ridiculous it is.

Regardless when you get a friend in and their first public dungeon has 15+ botters in it, it makes the game look horrendous.

I mean the NSA can track everyones gmail, I'm sure zenimax can track in game mail searching for key words about buying gold to investigate as well lol.

Its been sometime since i been in the lower public dungeons. However, in shadowfen i did come across this quite a few times... It sure is annoying and I would hope that ZOS would take action. I have no doubts they are already taking action but just the fact that you made this thread. I thank you.

Had a whole group of them in Del's Claim (Auridon). All templars, all spamming that god awful spear attack. The boss drops dead less than a second after he is visible to normal people.

Only reason we managed to grab the achievement was because of an AOE heal we could cast on the bots.

I like this game, I want it to succeed...but for the love of Saint Jiub! Please get somebody in there to kick the bots off!

As long people buy from those shady websites, bots will be a part of online gaming.

Its everyone´s fault who buys from those websites, ZO cant win against bots. Look at Blizzard, wow or diablo is full of them and they probably have a lot more money and personal to deal with them.

What we need and I am sure people hate it is an ID check if you make an account. Every person has a unique ID, insert this when you want to play online. Once you cheat or bot, your ID is suspended and you cant play anymore.

Yes its harsh, yes its CIA stuff - but online gaming´s only chance.

Yes but a few hundred bot accounts payments doesnt equal the thousands that need a reason to stay with NC Soft Wildstar and WoD on the horizon.... I for one want to stay and play but if this is the sign of things to come then I will be jumping straight into the next MMO out.

I was having a chat with a player in game the other day who claimed to be a GM in Rift, he probably was, who'd lie about that! lol who pointed out its not easy as there needs to be an investigation and botting software is hard to detect.

I asked why a GM cant sit at a client like we are with his console open and ban them on the fly, IF they turn out to be individuals not companies (his argument was that they may not be bots or individuals) then possibly re-instate them, at the end of the day they are still breaking the rules and the ban time while they are investigated is justified. Ban THEN investigate. He had no answer and changed zones...

I think they are prepping the game for f2p, hence no game master.

No but wow have things under control to an extent, I dont regularly see teams of bots farming in wow, In fact ive never seen a team of bots and considering the hours i put in thats quite a feat, i didnt even see that many individual bots. Nothing compared to this anyway.
