ESO mmo or a single play game?

Eso is basically : If you don't organise yourself (guild/friends/reliable people)...well you won't really get anywhere.
From my perspective (been here since the beginning), most of my friends list/guild don't do that much regular PVE content any more, especially not 4 man.

I'm playing solo most of the time and apart from some (not even all, many are easily soloable) group dungeons and of course trials it works perfectly. PvE, of course. PvP is a different story.

For 4 man Vet HM content, end game trials or particular achievements you need an organised group. Being solo or joining random groups requires a lot of patience, but hey it's a semi-free world :)

That's true. But considering the whole scope of ESO, I wouldn't call that "you don't get anywhere".

you can get a group for most base game dungeons via the finder but you cant for the dlcs. I imagine its a combination of not having the dlc and having no interest in them.

for instance in the last week or so i had no problems getting pugs for 5 of the base game dungeons that i needed to be run multiple times for the antiquities system ( spindelclutch/elden hollow1/blackheart haven/direfrost/crypt of hearts) . I ran each of these on normal multiple times. None of them were pledges and there was no issue. I also noticed that in almost every case the people I was grouped with were sub 50 and many appeared new to the game.

in contrast i tried castle thorn on normal 3 times now on my tank and no takers. Long ago i warned zos about these dlc dungeons. They should of looked into it.
I have been pugging lots of the normal DLC and many vet standard on an tank build for skill points. Check who is pledge, if match queue.

No issues except: A fun story, it was the vBC2, please are you an real thank, as real as they get :)
Came in on last boss, they kicked the fake tank, quest was triggered so I was happy, they was happy as I was an real tank.
Pretty low dps group. Not much an issue. They killed the orbs and good healer so I could handle the daedrots while they killed the boss over time, the problem was that they was afraid to kill daedrots even if I had 8 on me, if I did not taunt one they ran around in circles away from group, so I had to pick up the daedrot again so they could do damage.
Because of some bug in dressing room I had a bow bar on back bar so no inner light.
And got bobbled 5 times, did not see other getting bobbled :)
Did it, had we wiped I had explained that we only need three so I hold four, release the most wounded ones for you to kill in AoE, fun run and fast skill point.
However refused more dungeons with them.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Most HM are pretty easy if your high cp and no fakes.
DLC HM on the other hand, most of my pug vet DLC clears has been then doing 1-2 standard vet and it has been smooth runs so try vet dlc.
However an organized group helps an a lot as in +400%.

Now I remember 5 hours in fungal 2 back then it was fungal vet.
We got to he second last boss and at this point none wanted to chicken out, let say we burned lots of repair kits.

I loved the community of enthusiasts in 2014/15 but started playing solo after the game become 1) more elitist/toxic, and 2) popular and full of non-subscribers, with many more persons not caring about the rpg aspect of ESO, at least not caring in a way that makes sense to me who subjectively prefer Tolkien, Narnia and Terry Goodkind. Now I hope that ESO will make it possible for all players to develop skills and power to a point where all content can be done solo, with hard work, as in vMA.

I actually like that you can tackle a large portion of the content solo including some parts that can be done in groups. Sometimes I just like to play without the burden of slowing people down or in some cases being slowed down.

There are also the times where the random groups are fun with lots of laughs. The trials groups are always fun until someone blows a gasket on CR+3 and starts complaining about fake heals.

There are some dead spaces though. Northern Elsweyr around midnight on XB1/NA is a ghost town. I find Summerset and Vvardenfell to be mostly empty space most of the time. Makes it hard to tackle WB’s in the DLC zones but it’s a better practice for real trial and vet dungeon scenarios than beating up on a dummy for hours.

What we have is more of an open world
RPG with MMO elements and that’s OK seeing as their identity comes first and foremost from the TES series. The option is there to group if you want it. The challenges are there if you know where to look. Overall things are in a good place, perhaps a few things need tweaking like those WB’s in the DLC areas that really can’t be soloed and are hard to kill even with 2 or 3. That’s where I wish they would spend time adjusting the game and not adding an extra 5 or 6 rss to jewelry pieces!

The majority of the thousands of hours I have played over the past almost 5 years, has been singleplayer, questing content. If it was nothing but a typical MMO, I would never have hung around as long as I have.

I'm one of the above mentioned never-MMOers attracted by the TES world itself. For those wishing "true" MMO experience there are plenty other games and for those who want to immerge into the Scrolls world and play coop eventually there are none. I'm over 300 cp and have never participated in any group activities. Can't say I have no interest at all but something always stands in the way and I think "oh next time, now I just want to relax doing quests". I've even joined a guild without obligations to have an ability for group play sometime, not sure when I start though. So yeah, for casual rpg-players this game gives great opportunity for such stuff and I'm sure I'm not the only one to be fond of solo play especially with quests of such quality. Can't say they are all five-stars quests but there are plenty nice ones that I really like.

I think it's great that you have the options of both single and multiplayer.. let's the player choose the style that he/she wants  regular mmo games usually get boring really fast.. not eso though, as content can be done in multiple ways

The state of dlc dungeons worry me.
They release at least 4 new each year, and if no one cares to do them, then what's the point?

People do them, no worries  especially when they come up as pledges

I feel the main issue with the new dungeons is that they are too elaborate/ difficult for the majority of the player base.

There is a growing divide between the top vet players, and the casual player base. This makes the longer, more demanding “newer” dungeons less attractive to the casual player. Difficult mechanics in the new dungeons also intimidate newer tanks, and dissuade more experienced tanks from putting in such a long commitment.

For me, the newer dungeons are interesting story wise, but the length and the vet difficulty feel like they are more bother then they are worth it to run them multiple times. The new dungeons are a one and done deal for me.

The main problem with DLC dungeons is that the people who do end game group content push the envelope for ZOS in terms of difficulty with their premade groups, but because of ESO+ there's a large portion of players who never wanted to push the envelope being pulled into DLC dungeons in PUGs.

Its pretty hard to strike a balance between "this will be new and exciting for players who want harder, more challenging content" and "anyone over CP 300 can get dumped in this dungeon and not have a really rough time of it."

Still, ZOS will continue doing it because its a lot less work than releasing another full zone.

It seems to me that recently ZOS has lost sight of the fact that the game is an online game ..

As someone who likes to play solo the vast majority of the time, I can honestly say, hand-on-heart, that nothing would make me walk away from ESO faster than being forced to play Group or PvP activities to make progress in the game.
