Not a complaint, just looking for sympathy. ;)

I am subject to visual-triggered motion sickness, which means there are certain things in some games that make me nauseous. First person view in anything, riding a bear mount in ESO, stuff that affects the way that the surrounding landscape looks is what usually sets me off. I've found ESO to be very friendly to my stomach as long as I always stay zoomed all the way out and avoid bear mounts (not a problem since I don't like bears). So I've been really grateful for that. But for the past few days I've noticed that after I've been playing a while I start to feel sick, and I wondered if my glasses were getting out of date or something major had changed with my FPS or something. I was getting really worried, because it's enough to really feel bad and make me have to quit playing for a while. Been nagging at the back of my mind, since it was before the patch so it clearly wasn't that and I could not think of *anything* else that changed, until I realized...

It's my Ring of the Wild Hunt. :'( Apparently it changes the way the landscape looks going past me JUST enough to get me. And I love that dang thing so much. Waaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!

Oh yikes, all the sympathies from me. I have an inner ear thing and too much wobbling on screen will make me feel like I’m still wobbling long after it’s over (elevators are “fun” for that too). The end of Darkshade Caverns II is hell for me, I can only look at the screen a second before I have to look away again. Farming for the antiquities Mount was super fun, let me tell you 🤢
Luckily the WH ring doesn’t affect me, sorry it does you 😕

I sympahtize... playing first person, or with the camera not fully zoomed out in third person, or watching someone play with a short camera distance, triggers nausea pretty fast :'( I haven't played so much wearing the ring of the wild hunt, so I haven't noticed if it made a difference, but nevertheless, I'm sorry it brings on your motion sickness, it sucks not being able to play because of it.

    I do 'feel' for you,
yes do go get your eyes tested but it probably is just the way some things are drawn :(

For me it is the 'rotating' camera at the crafting stations, but ESO is nothing like as bad as the 'vomit jump' that EvE changed to a few years back!

in the options, under camera you can change the FOV, the viewing angle. Maybe altering it for a wider or smaller view will change how you react.

I just learned this about a week ago. Not sure if it affects the extreme wobbling at the end of DSCII, hmmm 🤔
Other than that, it has helped a bit. Bears and camels are still a bit iffy to ride though.

Oooh. I will have to try that. I've been assuming it was about watching the landscape fly by, but I don't know! So I will mess with that and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for the tip. :)

I wonder if this motion sickness as it's visually triggered can be prevented the same way as when travelling in a car or train etc as it's more to do with the eyes/ brain than vehicle motion.. Ginger tea or ginger ale helps with this and almost anything that has ginger in it. Google ginger and motion sickness for more information.

    [snip]

    Real one:
If you can explain the problem more detailled, there can be a solution (maybe).
Is it the shaking? (bear mount) Is the "blur effect" on textures because/and of the quick landscape motion?
There are some .ini files tweaks (no cheating, no worries and nothing to get banned/warned. It's like extended graphics settings) where you can edit those kind of stuff. (can be more burden on your cpu/gpu tho')

I changed the graphic/texture blur effect, so that the armor/weapons of other players are better visible in more details for a bigger distance. Lost 2-3 fps but it is a big QoL gain as no more blurry armor textures are limiting my immersion.

You can PM me, if you want.

Try using a cat, Netch, or Dwemer mount. Much smoother ride without the herky jerky visual effects.

    Hope it helps your experience

I sympathize with you. I posted elsewhere about the crafting stations. That slow spin around my character makes me feel sick. I have to close my eyes until it's over. Of course, I craft on all of my alts so, maybe it's spin overkill.

I had to get a refund on the Call of Cthulhu game because of motion sickness. Unfortunately I kickstarted the latest Bards Tale game so I couldn’t get a refund for the same reason.

The only place I experienced motion sickness in ESO is when falling from great heights.

Or MaryAnn... maybe you like "The Skipper" instead.

Turn off the Grass and those other visual settings. That might help you.
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

I usually ride a cat or a Dwemer spider because they "feel faster", probably for that very reason. The problem only started when I started running at mount speed but on foot. Maybe we bounce more while we're running than I was aware of!

I'll have to try the ginger, I've done ginger tea or candied ginger for queasiness before. I thought about trying a Dramamine, but those tend to put me to sleep. My brother got sick watching Blair Witch and Cloverfield but taking a Dramamine set him straight to try again so we clearly have some kind of genetic jigglevision issue. xD

Sorry that's an issue for you. I don't get sick but I am so easily lost direction wise sometimes. I can't seem to get my mind to agree to go in a certain direction doesn't mean the opposite way. I literally could not play this game if we just had the map and no quest pointer on the compass. Even then I'm liable to head directly opposite sometimes. Like my mind understands the way forward but my hands are switched. I'm the guy that is told to raise my left hand will raise my right. God put me in my body backwards. I would add a joke about how men go to the bathroom usually is real dicey for me (it isn't but I got a chuckle when I thought of it).
