Make ignore list bigger.

All in the title. I am having to remove people from my list to add new ones. What is the point of having an ignore list if I am forced to remove people from them to add new ones? At least make it hold 500 names. That would be better.

Yes. Enough players that it would be fine to have an endless ignore list.

Why would you add more than a few people to it anyways?
If you want to play alone for the day and don't want to be bothered play in offline mode. No one can whisper you, but you can and you can still add friends to your group to chat or chat in guild chat.

turn off group talk, guild, say, zone chat to back color on a black background and you wont see anyone bothering you anymore!

you have no clue of the complexity of doing a for loop to check all those names vs incoming chat that is send to you, they will need to upgrades their servers! :)

Just put a note next to the especially bad people eg: crown scammers, on your ignore list and remove the ones who were just being annoying in zone chat the following day freeing up space for the next idiots you encounter.

Every time this topic comes up, I always end up wondering how this is even an issue. Why are you filling your ignore list with 500 names in the first place? I mean, doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of the MMO environment? Save it for the repeat offenders and the truly offensive. You go adding every minor annoyance and short lived gold seller spambot to your ignore list and it's no surprise why you'd be hitting the cap.

I NEVER used the ignore list before.

Until I went to PvE for a bit to complete the Elseweyr chapter. Since they added the link-guild-to-chat function by then I got really annoyed by the guild advertisement spam. When I started adding guild spam *** to my ignore list I quickly discovered there were not enough places on it.

Lucky enough in PvP these people are absent. But for PvE, yes I support the need for a bigger ignore list.

I've only ignored people who really annoyed me so far - which might be 3 or 4 in over 5 years. Not to insult anyone here, but I think it's worse here at the forums (or it might seem that way as it's always the same people here, while in-game, you read of them in chat once, and probably never meet again anyway)... And we can only ignore 12 users here.

Huh, I have 1 person on my ignore list, and I might let that one out of it in a few weeks as he was recently added. Think I've only ignore maybe 5 people in total, 1 which was a wall hacker that I wanted to remember the name of for awhile. The rest were usually left off after a month or so.

Using a separate tab that have all channels except zone helps a lot to keep the ignore list to a minimum when I want to focus on group, guild or whispers.

Generally if I've had to put someone on the ignore list it was because they were annoying me at that specific moment. Chances are if you mute a rando in zone or other general chat, you can safely unmute them the next day or a week later because you probably won't run into them again. People in your guilds or crown scammers would be around more persistently, so there is a need to keep them on the list.

only ever had to ignore one person. This dude followed me around for an hour. I was getting a "whats the frequency kenneth" vibe from him. Every way i would turn he would match and then complain i was in his space.. it was very odd.

I think it is very common to use the ignore list for chat spammers (for example trade guild advertisers), not because you get so much hate from other people ;)

haha, true...I have gotten enough hate tells telling me I am trash...which is probably true, I am not great at PvP. I don't actually put them on ignore though, I just ignore them the old fashioned way. If I DO reply to them, they are inevitably playing in offline mode.

The key takeaway is that a full ignore list often means it’s time to do some self-introspection ... rather than increasing the cap. ;)

Hate whispers from opposing players are a compliment, no need to put the players who write those on ignore. Way more fun to troll them.

No offense but if you need to add more than 100 people to an ignore list you probably want to turn off chat all together.

Dang, I only have a few people on my ignore list that need to be there until the end of time. Sometimes I put someone on it for a short bit, like until I ahve switched zones away from them kind of thing. But I can't imagine needing more spaces than I have already, either I am not as easily bothered by folks as some other people may be, or typically people don't give me too hard of a time. The forever on my ignore list folks are people I would consider to be actual awful humans that I don't want anywhere near me ever, and tend to be dudes that freaked me out a bit, so more for safety reasons than oh they were annoying me that one time.

Same here none on block list. I tend to ignore zone most of the time but can be fun to help some on an world boss, has three tabs, All, not zone, second is no guilds as guild chat can be pretty busy from time to time and if you do group content without voice. Default is all, only switching if needed.
However I was once asked about an add inside an gas station by a lady doing an pol, my answer was, was it adds inside?
Yes I assume all walls was covered with adds but I have a good add filter, remember an coke cooler.

I think a bigger friends/ignore list is a good idea. I hate having to choose who to friend, it's annoying.

A limited ignore list doesnt make sense. There should be zero server performance, none at all, from ignoring. The ignoring can simply be done locally in your game and there'd be no difference other than their message wont be show to you.

Just because you want to filter away to obnoxious ones doesnt mean you also want to filter out all the players commiting themselves to decent behavior... If you spent time in zone chat everyday you can very quicky reach 100 on the ignore list. There's a lot of players and a lot of them will at times write offensive things. Me personally I dont care at all about what people say, I dont get offended about anything thankfully; but if I did I can certainly understand why someone can quickly reach 100 ignores.

This. I've always tended to the view that having to put a limited number of people on your Ignore list says something about those people, while having to put a lot more than that on your Ignore list says something about you.
