The staff buffs the skill itself. Imagine you are casting an improved wall of elements on backbar that will make you hit everything inside it stronger with light attacks. vMA staff is very strong, much better than backbarring MS

Oh I thought the buff from the MA staff only worked when using the MA staff to do light/heavy attacks. So it actually changes the WoE skill itself when used from the MA staff?

And if you feeling especially crazy and have the psijic skill elemental weapons as your spamable your light attacks hits for a crazy amount. I use it for my magplar spamable, just have to get the timing right. Warden spamable is one of the best in the game though but the power of elemental weapons is undeniable once you learn to use it.

The animal companions passive giving 2% extra damage means 4% lost from losing cliff racer/fletcher infection...

I prefer force pulse for the cleave.

My mags have the crushing shock morph for the range interrupt which is needed in some trials. I need to re-evaluate that choice. How does force pulse synergize with elemental succession set? Does the damage get boosted?

It does, but elemental succession is getting nerfed (lol), while you do need to interrupt in some trials, most can be interrupted in melee with a bash... generally in most trials (not dungeons) elemental weapons are over performing cause u need the single target damage, but are clunky. I wouldn't run elemental succession on warden though, the damage loss on bear+fissure is way to big.
