Console players: What’s your move next gen?

Having a pc account since beta and ps4 since launch, I often consider going back to pc but don’t want to lose all the progress on console. Recently I’ve been playing both and it “feels” like pc is more populated. My concern is that console players are going to move on to new games and the world will become a bit lonely, so I figured I’d ask the question. When new consoles drop, what do you folks expect to be doing?

Can we get an other on this? I’m staying current gen probably for 3-4 months until I know all the bugs are worked out. Already having a tough enough sell trying to become a 2 Xbox home with the wife but just need a coupe extra contracts for my real life gig and I can justify the cost easier if it come out of my own pocket!

I have considered moving to PC, as well - buuuuut... achievements.

And, without an upgraded ESO game engine - I don’t envision any viable improvements regardless of console gen - and therefore, don’t feel any pressure to leave my current main account. XBOX NA.

I also haven’t seen any definitive reason from a performance, graphics, or infrastructure perspective - in general - that warrants and immediate switch from old-gen to new-gen on release, either.

Of course I'm getting the Series X immediately. Here's hoping Gamestop is still going to do a trade in offer during all this economic instability. I REALLY don't want to pay full price cause I know it's gonna be like buying a gaming PC again.

I will move to next gen and keep playing. Prob wait couple of months till any bugs with new consoles ironed out.

I can’t say I’m hugely optimistic about the enhanced versions. Without significant changes to the engine and code I can’t imagine we will see huge improvements. I hope it runs faster and looks at least noticeably better. Hopefully we get more concrete details soon - but just can’t see ZOS funding a full overhaul of assets and graphics.

I figured an enhanced version would be about what a maxed PC version looks like today. I got a PS4pro for the 4k graphics and can say it’s a major difference on a big tv, so for me it was worth it. I am prob going to wind up with the PS5 but the hesitation is wondering if people are going to stick around or move on with the next gen consoles. I have 100+ days played on console and 25+ on PC, so I feel like I need to go one way or the other at this point.

Personally I am pre-ordering a next gen console (Xbox Series X) and moving to it asap. Hoping all the extra power in both PS5 and Xbox Series X will have will result in shorter load times and higher frame rates for all console players.

Just made the move from xbox to pc. Other than pvp being hot garbage, it's already loads better. I'm not wasting my money on another xbox when game support for console is non-existent.

From this article, we will play on the same server as current gen player with everything we have , character and all, as our account are linked to our psn/xbox account wich arent changing between gen

Also eso will have a free upgrade given to every eso player having the gabe by nextgen version release. I assume this will probably be a download code for your respective next gen version sent by email

I'm on Pc and I feel you. Achievement is the main reason I don't main my healcro yet. So boring to do all again... Dunno why it's not tied to account instead of char like it is in GW2....

I will stay on my PS4 because I think the next gen consoles are gonna be way to expensive when they come out and the changes ESO will have are probably not so significant to justify a new console.

The game need to be in a good spot for next gen. I hope ZOS are already preparing to market this as a second release and why everyone should own ESO on their new consoles.
I'm hopeful that this will be a good day for the game on Xbox and PS.

I have a PS4 pro and the PC version and there is a pretty big difference in graphical quality when you turn everything all the way up on PC. Everything is a sharper and the effects like fire from abilities have better lighting and look more real. The enhanced version for next gen console will likely use those settings instead of the equivalent to medium like they do now. It will be a noticeable upgrade but not like a different game level upgrade. I am more impressed by how fast things load when you're using an Nvme SSD on PC, in zone travel is instant and between zones is at least 10 times faster.

if the next gen is around 400/600€ at this price I update my proc, my motherboard and ram it will always be better than a console and for that, there are very good kit update at the moment with the ryzen, not sure to continue with a console on the side.

Other: if next generation consoles can make up for ZOS’s poorly-optimized open-world coding, to the point where we do not stutter or experience significant dips in performance for something as simple as killing mudcrabs or porting into wayshrines, and if ZOS finally makes Cyrodiil playable again, then I will consider re-installing ESO.

I’m buying a PS5 one way or another; whether I’ll actually play ESO on it is totally up to ZOS.

Eventually I will move to PS5 but not on release, for the known reasons: on release there will be few games and probably there will be bugs to fix. Pricing on release is another reason.

You’ll be able to play any PS4 game on PS5 on release — with faster loading times and (presumably) more stable FPS. Even if there are few PS5-specific games at launch, it’s still worth it to play PS4 games on the new system as opposed to playing the same games on the PS4.

On Next Gen. I'm going to get it anyways, so I'd rather get it at launch instead of waiting over a year for the price to drop $50 or so. Plus, I play other games as well and while this One X has done a great job for many years it's now time to upgrade to the next gen and add another one to the 'list of consoles owned' (starting to become a very lengthy list)!

The way it sounds with the next gen consoles you’ll continue with the same account.

Having had both a regular hdd and ssd in ps4 I can say 100% that alone with the next gen consoles is going to make the game feel better. I’m hopeful that with next gen we can get some better textures / effects with future xpacs. Been playing a lot on both my ps4pro and pc lately and I can testify that while ps4 looks fine for play at 4k, there is a noticeable difference in sharpness, lighting, and view distance between the two. That said ESO can still sometimes tax my 1060 and drop average frames into the 30’s just wandering the open world.

I just built a pc, not specifically for ESO, but here I am wasting time on an account I abandoned in '15 for console. I will likely be buying a PS5, but definitely not for ESO. I'll play it on there, but there are better games coming that will be pulling me away.

I don't typically get the new gen of console until a good while down the road; let the bugs get worked out and the price drop, and let a game release that I really want to play, then I'll probably buy. I've been with Xbox since their first console released, and unless they go full stupid again like they did with the Xbox One release, I will likely get their new console.

I bought a PS4 first, last gen, (because Microsoft were being idiots), but other than a few exclusives, (Detroit: Become Human ♥) I haven't really played it much, so I see no point in buying a PS5. I will always prefer the Xbox controller over Playstation.

As far as playing ESO, I doubt I will still be playing by the time new consoles release. I've done all story quests multiple times on several characters, and I just can't find much to do anymore other than repeating dailies. On December 3rd, I will have been playing ESO for 5 years, and there just isn't anything fun left for me.
