Pet sorc Vs non pet sorc

As it stands on live, non pet sorcs are underperforming. With the upcoming changes of 300 magicka return on daedric summoning abilities the gap becomes even bigger, giving pet sorc a major sustain boost of 750~ resource return every rotation(10 sec rotation static 1.5 curse 1 monkey use), leaving non pet sorc behind with 250~ per rotation (which is similar to what they had from the old rebate passive, using storm atronach ultimate).
I am happy that sorc sustain is getting better this patch (frags) because it has been an issue for quite a while, but the gap between pets & no pets is growing wider & wider.

Jokes aside now. I would focus on Lightning Splash ability which feels extremely underpowered in comparison with other class ground AoEs. Buffing this ability to put it on par with Winter's Reach or Unerving Boneyard would help sorcerer as a class while such change would be more of a benefit to non-pet sorcerers than to petsorcs (petsorcs don't have room for additional spells like this one and would have to trade off something, Mystic Orb maybe?).

I would nerf pet damage, buff bonus damage from daedric prey, nerf flappy a bit more, make it's skill actually good to use, then balance other abilities to deal more damage (hunting curse + lightning splash + endless fury + dark conversion) making pet Vs no pet around the same.

But ye, fixing lightning splash to actually reflect the tooltip is the first step.

Edit: buffing one ability is not enough to balance it, you need to tie pets together so each on their own they are not strong, but together they are very, while also spreading damage across many other abilities so pet sorcs won't have the space to run them.

Would love pets just use 1 slot. When u are on the other bar, where the pet isn't slotted, it don't disappear, instead it just stop auto attack. But the monkeys aoe still should do its work as it's just an aoe ground dot, just mobile.

Nerfing pets would just make them useless. Buffing other sorc skills would simply make them preferential skills, and nobody would use pets in any serious way outside of niche or support roles. As pets take up 2 slots a piece, any balancing here is likely to not really work in favour of a no pet build, as you gotta make pets worthwhile to slot or whats the point of them? Considering that zos balance both pvp and pve together its a no win situation.

I agree that a buff to the non-pet sorc has to be achieved (made a post not too long back), but it's really hard to balance that properly. The things I came up with then are not really fixing the problems, but I think they will help anyway.
Buffing haunting curse (since it's in theory the morph that won't be used by the petsorcs) is a good start I found, but if it gets too strong, it will just instead be used instead of daedric prey. So giving prey a bigger bonus (25-30%) instead of 20% will make it more needed, together with the change to sustain which favors prey, is good enough for that morph. Now you can buff haunting curse, give it a small damage buff (not too much for PvP), or better yet, give it an extra effect (I came up with a sort martial knowledge bonus) or change the duration to 10 seconds (so it fits greatly within a rotation).
Buffing mage's fury will also help (execute range for example, or a little bit of damage, or both), because it's just a slot too much which petsorcs won't be able to run (in combination with a range reduction for PvP balance).
And finally the lightning splash really needs a buff since it's a signature sorc ability which is barely used at all, and if it's used it's either for tanks in progs or in pugs and when I see it I only think 'damn I would have loved it if they'd run the orbs for both damage and sustain'.
