PvE has an end, but PvP doesn't

I still have lots of pve left to do even after 4 years. Pve end game is crafting, selling, trading, housing, mat farming, socializing, achievements, and developing friendships

This is an MMORPG. Look at other MMORPG games on the market. PvE content is always the focus of these games. If they offer PvP content and play, it is secondary to the PvE content. This is simply the game model. It's not good or bad, it's just the way they're set up. They cater to the single player and co-op (dungeons and trials) experience. The more antagonistic PvP experience, with player-vs-player on either the solo (duels), team (battlegrounds), or large (Cyrodiil and siege, Imperial City Districts and Sewers) scales are extra. That's not saying they don't have a place or play an important role in the game, but most MMORPG encourage player cooperation, which in PvP is seen in Battlegrounds (or was, before they killed group queues) and in siege groups. That still relies at its base on the antagonistic model that pits players against one another. Players who are drawn to that model are more likely to spend most of their time (and IRL currency) in something like team-based multiplayer online first-person shooter or a battle royale, which is designed entirely on the competition with (and defeat of) other players. If PvP players are more likely to contribute their currency to games that are designed for PvP, then naturally MMORPG games are going to cater to the PvE players - they are going to be courting the currency of the PvE market, because for them, that is where the money is most likely to be made.

They should invest more into the PvP side of this game if we care about Elder Scrolls Online because PvE ends, but PvP is there forever. That way, we can be sure ESO stays active for a long time.

I wish there would be a way to measure how many players are actively involved in pvp, and how many are pve focused. The only reasons I've ever bothered with visiting Cyrodiil was to go to IC to use the crafting stations. Now with attuned stations, I can totally ignore pvp. I've been here since beta, and if it shifted to pvp focused, or pvp only, I'd quit immediately. Subbed since early release, two accounts, lots of stuff, most of the senche mounts, houses bought, everything....I'd drop it all and walk away. Your idea would kill the game for me.

There's no excuse for either side to be upset. This game pulls in enough money that we should all be satisfied. I mean hell depending on what lists you go by ESO ranks in the top 3 MMOs out currently.

The entire game is like 80% PvE, I can't stand people acting like it's not.

PvP needs attention, not more PvE stuff sorry.

PvE players already have tons of content.

No I agree, my statement was directed at the argument that PvE pulls in more money and thus PvP should be neglected. People forget that if PvP had more unique sets then it might pull in more money. At this point if you want to do PvP you are typically using PvE sets thus there is a lot of double dip coming from PvE. With that in mind I would enjoy a toggle open world pvp system.
    PvP needs more love.

PvP is the end game when you are done with PvE. PvE is training for the real deal, which is PvP.

....too bad PvP in ESO has not worked for 18 months plus.

There's plenty of things ZOS could do with the regular map, and plenty of ways to still reward people in PVE while doing PVP.

    ohhh I know!

Lets add a RANDOM artifact weapon! Like some sort of hammer thing. It can spawn and cause mass fighting!

    It will be a hit!

It's probably a lot easier to get all the PVP achievements done in the game than it is all the PVE ones...just saying.

Most content is PvE based because TES has always been a single-player franchise until ESO, there's never been any PvP elements, and ESO itself is largely focused on PvE. This isn't one of those games where it's dedicated more to PvP, so of course most of the content being released is for PvE since that's the main focus. People keep saying PvP needs more content, needs more releases, needs more this or that, but I don't think I've seen anyone ever offer ideas for new stuff for PvP, they just keep saying we need it. Now I'm not trying to say PvP doesn't deserve more stuff to keep those players happy, I'm simply explaining why we have more PvE stuff than we do PvP stuff, and also pointing out if y'all want more stuff, instead of just making bland vague posts or threads about how "PvP doesn't have enough we need more!" then try posting actual detailed feedback about ideas you have. Simply posting "we need more" doesn't really tell ZOS much and doesn't give them much to work with (though one could argue that they rarely listen to feedback and advice to begin with, and when they do it tends to take years for it to be implemented).
At some point, they will have to stop creating PvE content because the lore is not infinite. So PvE is not infinite, it has an end.
This is actually false. ESO has been adding to and expanding on existing lore (and one could say also ruining certain bits of lore like with the race passive rebalance), and will continue to do so, so they'll never run out of lore. Have you ever really looked at TES' lore to begin with? I'll assume yes given your username; you should know well how vague a lot of the lore is. Even if they don't make new stuff, there's a bunch of existing lore that can be gone into greater detail of, in one way or another. Just look at all the lore on Argonians Murkmire gave us.

PvE will never end so long as new content is being made and new stories are there to be told, and with how big the TES universe is, there are a LOT of stories for them to come up with. Whether they're good or not would be subject to individual subjectivity, but they'll still be there. And PvP will not "always be there" because this game is based largely around PvE content; if (or rather when) the servers close, PvP won't still be around, it'll be gone as much as PvE.

This is mostly true. However, after two weeks, all the achievements from Greymoor were done, so it's back to the PvP where it's always different, the competition is always good....assuming you are somewhat equally matched and skills are working.

The only way you can argue that PvE has an end is to say repeatedly doing the same dungeons and trials doesn’t count as PvE “still going.”

At that point I call shenanigans, because Cyrodiil is fighting for the same freaking stairs and walls eternally. If there is a Nord version of hell thats it. It’s doing the same stuff endlessly just like PvE.

Only We have more change of scenery in one dungeon than you get in a month of keep battles.

I think the OP means that there are story lines with a beginning, middle, and an ending.

    Some examples:

One could say PVP is all the same as well. You kill other players, keep taking over the same keeps. Sounds boring to someone who doesn't care about combat. It's all how you look at it.

... what are you talking about. I guess it's possible to complete ALL achievements and do ALL quests, but that is a monumental effort that almost no one completes or desires to complete. Even then, there's stuff to do- get involved in a trade guild, do housing stuff, RP, run stuff with your guilds for the hell of it, whatever. I've never had anyone quit because PvE "ends"; it's the same as when someone quits PvP- you're done when you decide you're done, not because of content limitations.

I quit when PvE ended at launch I have also taken extended breaks when we ran out of PvE content. Sure, I could keep playing a video game by creating a game where I move things around in my inventory. I suppose almost no game has content limitations if we use your definition. But this game definitely runs out of narrative.

I'm not sure why you group all those things into a single "PvE" category. Lumping housing and doing the narrative quests into a single category makes no more sense than lumping housing with taking part in the Alliance War. And doing stuff with guilds for the hell of it can be Cyrodiil or IC as much as any other content.

I would have to disagree. I was one of many active participants ... on a whole string of discussions some years ago about things to improve and interactions to have

-Escort civilians or wounded through Cyrodiil
-Real time defense of targets, with regular "arrivals" of NPC troops (community live action like anchors or dragons)

Things like that ....ZoS wasn't interested
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis
