There are 8 currently available in total (this is the same as when these launched in 2018). 4 large and 3 small from the different vendors (writs, tel var) and one small that is part of the level up rewards.

Weren't the one you got as a reward identical to one of the small chests you can buy?
AFAIK, the one in level up rewards is not available anywhere else in the game. Since all of the 4 chest variants have similar names, though, it's easy to confuse them.

It is, you can buy that too before you get it as reward. Just why would you do that? :D

I don't think I've ever seen it listed in any of the vendors - crown store, writs, or tel var. The other containers are all listed, but grayed out because I already own them. So if it is available in principle before you get the level up, it doesn't behave like the others. I don't think I have an account anyplace that doesn't have the item from level up rewards.

You can find it under the Housing Editor Purchase tab, in the Services Category, Storage section.

    EDIT:

Nope. That's not true. Sorry. The Storage Coffer, Fortified is NOT under the Housing Editor Purchasing tab, nor is it in the Crown Store.

I would like to see chest getting the ESO plus treatment of doubled inventory space, like the bank does.

With only 30/60 items, I find it hard, to organize inventory in a sensible way, as there are usually more than 30/60 items to store (surveys, monster helms, siege, etc.)

In addition it would be nice if they added a few extra chests, like at least 2 of each size.
Didn't they say, when the chests initially came out, that those were only a start for housing storage?

Because this is not a way out of the situation. There are too many sets now and there will be even more and the meta changes at times unpredictably.

Why does ZOS not give us more storage chests?

ESO+ Subscription doubles your bank stoarge.

I know... but even with eso + its not enough storage with all the new sets etc.

There's no rule in the game that says you have to keep every 5-piece set, @Oingloin and @BrownChicken

Start doing some housecleaning on the sets you don't need (or at least the off-trait pieces you don't need).
True. Though I really wish I hadn't deconned all the spell power cure stuff and all those medusa inferno staves in the past years

Yup, i NEED more storage .. well maybe really not need but all mine are full, and now all my chars are carrying ever increasing amounts of stuff as well :)

    (yes i have ESO +)

frankly the number of sets available is bordering on insane, where will it end for heavens sakes?.

If Zos insist on cranking out ever increasing amounts of "stuff", then they also need to give us increased storage space imo.

    Give? Give! Give?

Your Question should be, "Why doesn't ZOS sell us more Chests?"

    Agree. :D

I have ESO+ and all the storage chests. This is not enough storage. I hate having to switch to characters to look for things, it takes forever and I have 9 characters. I'm sure PC has add-ons to log items but console doesn't.

I don't see why I can buy additional character slots and pay to increase their capacity when they could just sell me storage chests for the same price.

    Same here.

Try starting your own guild, get 10 members and immediately dump all you can into the guild bank set to only you having access. Once they leave you can still withdraw the items. The members dont have to be rubes, have friends in game join up for a day or so.

I think at this point it's safe to assume ZOS could never add enough storage space that everyone (or even the majority of players) were happy and did not want more. Junk expands to fill the available space and the more there is the harder it is to sort it out, so whenever they add more space players will find a way to fill it and then declare they need more again. It's a vicious cycle.

Since it seems to be set items which cause the biggest problem I think a better solution would be to look for an alternative so that players don't feel like they need to keep dozens of different sets in different armour weights and whatever else just in case they become useful one day.

I'm not sure what would work, but maybe some sort of token system where you can trade set pieces to an NPC for a currency (maybe generalised, maybe specific to each zone/dungeon etc.) which can then be used to purchase equivalent set pieces in future. That way once you've obtained one you can get it back if/when you want it but don't have to keep it forever just in case. Or a literal unlock system, like the outfit system for motifs, where the game keeps track of which set pieces you've obtained and lets you retrieve them when you want them without having to actually hold onto all of them.

The other four chests are all storage for excess housing items. *rolls eyes at self*

That's what I have the Grand Psijic Villa for ;)

I think a lot of us use that option, which definitely is useful. To a degree.

The only catch with it is, any items you dump there (or in another house) to be stored are not accessible through the Housing Editor interface.
Items in your bank, the inventory of the particular character you are logged-in on, and the storage chests in question are accessible.

If additional storage chests won't be an option, it would be nice to have access to all of our furnishings regardless of where they are stored, just to save the hassle of traveling all over the place to retrieve them when we want to place them.
(like the Retrieve tab in the housing editor, only expanded so that we can pull from our other houses and characters.)

That's why I moved all my spare furnishings into chests instead of other houses. I've even considered stripping stuff out some of the inn rooms which I only decorated because I had furnishings spare, so I don't forget I have those objects available to use in other houses if I want them.

But if there was a way to take items from one house and place them in another through the furnishing menu I'd definitely want a way to lock furnishings so they can't be moved. I have a lot of duplicates, for example things from the luxury furnishing vendor where I bought 2 while they were available but only found a use for one so far (and a lot of items I just don't remember where I put them), and it would be really annoying to find I'd accidentally pulled a placed item out of a house instead of using one from storage.

    Nonsense.

There's MMO's around with unlimited storage (like EVE, launched in 2003) so the limited storage in ESO is either bad programming or articficial limitation.
