Activity finder Overhaul + TRIALS

I think there should be an option in Group and Activity finder to be able to queue to a Trial.
But make it like: You can select the Trial you want.
Then you click on it and see who the Leader is etc. You click on join, it will send a message to the Leader saying <UserName> wants to join your Trial Run. And then, they can accept and stuff.
You can also toggle for, Open or Guild Members Only, or specific guild.
This would make more people join trials, and make joining trials easier and faster and overall way better.

You select a trial and browse where it is open. Like a lobby. And people will like join the one that is full, and then the next one and trials will be a very cool thing.

This could also work with Dungeons as well. Or make dungeons soloable if you select Solo Mode for people who want to do the quest and get a skillpoint, but there are no achievments nor rewards for that.

This is a way better way to do the Activity Finder, instead of the way it is.

If you can visualize what I am talking about, with the new UI and windows and such, just like they changed the Guild Stores, you can see this would be very good for the game.

Thanks for the reads.

I always wished ESO would add a group finder similar to Ffxiv's. It's so easy to navigate and find what you're looking for. Expect people in this thread to say things like "oh a trial finder isn't needed in eso" or something along the lines of "why would you want to pug" but the thing is, people are gonna pug anyway. Why wouldn't you want a system that makes it so much easier than spamming zone chat in crag looking for a group.

We're only about six months out from the Devs managing to make the current Groupfinder work at all, after overhauling it completely.

Good ideas, here, but I'm not sure how realistic the expectations are.

What you’re describing is FFXIV’s group finder, which is quite robust. Would be nice to see some implementation of it for ESO, though as another poster has stated, Activity Finder still has it’s warts and the devs have a lot on their plate, so I wouldn’t hold your breath.

If it’s any consolation, I have brought up ideas like this in the rep discord before, when asked for specific feedback that I’ve collected—yours is not the first suggestion in this vein.

I guess that solely depends on how their foxed group finder would perform through some more patches.

I would love normal trials to be on group finder, or a variation of a group finder. I have no interest in vet trials and struggle to get folk together through zone chat for trial runs. Even during the event struggled to get anyone together for N Cloudrest.

I should of course join a trial Guild, but it’s really only some thing I want to dabble in occasionally

I get it, mechanics and all. Thats why it shouldnt be like the way it is.
Thats why you should be able to see the group leader, the group members, not just queue and get placed in a random group after 36 hours.

But if they did it like the guilds finders are, you could quickly just put: Requirement's, know about mechanics. That's it. [snip]

I say this every time one of these ideas pops up. NO.

A fake tank in a dungeon pug ruins the run for 3 players. A fake tank in a trial pug does that to 11 players. Given the amount of time it takes to organize a pug now, using the posting in area chat in Craglorn, this would be a colossal pain.

I'd prefer ESO to open up area chat (the texting) to all of Tamriel. So you could put together your trial pugs easier instead of spamming Craglorn and guild chats.

They dont need a groupfinder. For eso its a negative process with bad outcomes not only to get groups but also in terms of server resources used and the outcome of those groups.

What they need is a npc guild structure focused on different activities where you gain access different local chats based on your achievements in those areas.

    Automation isnt always better.

Yeah this feature would either be deader than dead or be filled with people with no clue and fake roles galore because "queue time" for DDs would be enormous because only severely clueless tanks and healers or those with a great proclivity for self flagellation would ever go near it. Think the queue times for dungeon finder is bad, this would be exponentially greater.

Honestly, since the ratio of DPS to support roles is higher in a trial, it would probably be less of a problem.

Just look at trial groups forming in zone and you'll see that DPS are commonly the last roles to fill.

But DPS are also the most replaceable. Its also very hard for a DPS to singlehandedly ruin a trial. Bad healers and bad tanks can, with ease. Those 2 roles are the most important in trials and I really don't want to waste my time queuing only to find out by the first boss in HRC that the tank or healer has no idea what they are doing.

While I recognize both are still possible with the current method of organizing a pug, its much harder to hide. I play on PS4, so you get to recognize players' names that pug with frequency. So you have some idea up front when you see the area chat pop up what's likely in store for you. Or when you have accepted an invite and get to see the names and levels of some players as they join. I'm not a "you have to be a CP810 to run" guy, but I did bail on a VSS run this weekend when I saw a tank that was CP 210.

Compare that to group finder where you port in without seeing the player names beforehand and get dropped into dungeon and you remove the ability to opt out. Which earns you the timeout penalty for dropping group. I think this would kill pugs
