A bit of an emotional support request for my continuation at the game

Hi guys, Ive been playing on ps4 for a few years, gathered everything I could and more, made many friends along the way that dont play any longer, had my dream home (or close to it) became empress among other achievements that were important to me at the time.

There are two problems however, for one I was heavily medicated one night and accidentally deleted my main character that I put hours into, because of my medication I didnt even realize that I deleted her until weeks later when I decided to give the game another try, ZOS tried to save her but unfortunately it wasn't possible, I tend to make a bunch of characters for some reason I enjoy creating different faces so thats what I mainly logged in for and why I didnt even realize she was gone.

Now the second problem is a bit of a personal one which is that I fell out with the friend I used to play with everyday and night for years, I met him right at the beginning of my eso journey and we were practically inseparable, and I cant help but get reminded of him everytime I play, making my experience somewhat bitter in the end. I spent so much money on this game that I feel like now I have to leave behind and start right over again on pc just because I cant feel good with the memories of back then and I really dont know what to do. Gaming has always been an escapism for me, and I know its important to "live in the real world" and I do but eso felt quite real to me at the same time which might be hard to understand for some.

Any advice is very appreciated as Im stuck between really wanting to play the game, having a bunch of content but bad memories on ps4 or simply deciding to just start right over from zero with nothing on pc where for some reason things felt new probably because nothing of me is there that used to be a few years back on ps4.
Please delete this post if its not allowed of course and thank you to those that can advise me one way or another!

(Oh and I already bought the game on pc a year back, I just dont manage to decide where to play)

When you played on PS4, everything was new to you. The content, the faces, the friends, the experience. Now, you said that all of that excitement is gone from console and it brings you sadness just logging in.

The way I see it, jumping into PC is a new beginning. Fresh start. New faces. New friends. It's almost as if you'd be getting all of that excitement you felt in the beginning on PS4 back, but through PC. And getting all of the new smiles, laughs, memories, and months with wonderful individuals playing with you.

Close the ps4 chapter, and start a new fresh page on PC.

    We're here for you!

If you already have the game on PC nothing is stopping you from checking if you are more comfortable there.

    Changing Platform can help.

Besides better Graphics, and Performance, Addons will make it look and feel like a different game entirely
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

My only advice is drop ps4 and move to pc and reduce your give a *** via fresh air and exercise.

Beyond that, there are too many personal elements for anyone on a forum thread to really be able to help. Like all things, a proverbial callous will eventually form.

Do what feels right for you but remember you put time into your PS4 account. I wouldn’t give it up but why not take a vacation on the PC to feel free from all the turmoil.

You can go back to your main account feeling refreshed with a new outlook.

If they were more than a friend I would say take a break from the game. Do other things that make you feel happy, as everyone should when needed.

The game will be here when you get back.

Come join us in the land of PC! I'm PC/NA but spent a few months leveling from scratch over on the EU server, and it was a lot of fun to start from zero- no gold, no high-level master crafter character to craft the best gear possible for every 10 levels, no 810 CP to allocate on brand-new characters, no friends, no guilds, nothing. It was eye-opening to discover how much of an advantage that gear gave me, and less of a surprise but interesting and frustrating nonetheless how much more difficult things are without the CP!

I quit playing over there because in the end it was too hard to find people to play with because of the time difference.... while it's great to be able to farm a near-empty Deshaan at night, it actually got kind of lonely. You won't have that issue though because you can join whatever server matches your preferred times to play. So I think you'll have a lot of fun starting anew on a new platform.

I also echo the sentiment of @exeeter702 in that turning off the computer and going outside helps a lot, especially in times like this.

Lastly, maybe just take a quick break? I've been off playing Morrowind these past few weeks and haven't logged into ESO much, and it's been a nice and much-needed break.

That's all good advice. A change of scenery (or in this case, platform) may help. You don't have to disavow your PS4 account. You can return when you're ready.

To me it seems like you don't want to abandon PS4, but don't know how to recapture the feeling. I've had things ruined for me by broken relationships before. Finding new friends and creating new, positive associations has helped me take ownership of things that are important to me back.

If you play on NA server, I could give you my PSN, if you wanted to run some content sometime. I'm a 33yo woman, kind of a weird one, but I can be pretty chill.

Try PC, it might help or it might not, but if you have the account you might as well use it. Your PS4 account will still be there if you don't like PC, and if you do, well, we do have some cool bonuses like having add-ons.

The most important part is that you do what feel rights for you. Sometimes starting over can be a breath of fresh air and other times it can be scary and not what you need, so don't take what anyone else says as more important than what you want to do, but if you do want to start over, PC isn't a bad way to do it.

Good luck and I hope you find enjoyment in the game no matter what server your on! (but if you do swap to PC, and you're on NA feel free to look me up in game if you want to run some dungeons or quest, I'm always happy to make more female* friends in game since there doesn't seem to be to many of us)

To echo a lot of good advice, if moving to PC (at least for the moment) feels right, then go with it.

You can now explore the world of ESO with ...wait for it .....Addons!!

They will be a gamechanger (pun intended).

Come to the land of PC and have some fun for a while. Join some of the more social guilds, and get some support as you explore.

Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

I think there's a lot more of us than people tend to think. I've met a lot of women in this game and on these forums, and a lot of men that didn't seem shocked when they heard my voice. I think a lot of them are playing male toons and don't announce themselves for obvious reasons. I play a male toon, myself.

I think your right that there are more than people think but I'd say the number is still low, somewhere around 20% for the game in total, with even less in the "end game" player base, but then that spikes up like crazy for the true end game score pushers and leaders of big guilds. Or at least that's my experience on PC just from chatting with people. So far for me at least there has been a lot less issue as a female gamer playing a "pretty" character with "sexy" armor than in other games.

Eh, I don't have as many male characters as I do female. I do identify most strongly as female since that's what I AM - for almost 73 years. Hard to do guys by this time. I do have some truly cool ones though. Mostly on my second account (which is the one no one knows about, as it's where I go when.... um.... I've had it with people....)

Follow your heart. If PC inspire you to play more, go with that. Find a good community, explore some add-ons, and most importantly have a fresh start. Do some fun stuff like setup a new wallpaper and your computer and establish a nightly ritual around your gaming. It'll make it special. Hang in there!

with the new consoles coming up i assume they can play eso just fine since they are drastically more powerful

that being said, I grew up with pc gaming and will forever be a pc gamer - and if you dont need a a new pc immediately and have the funds to spend, there are new cpu and especially gpu generations coming up (gtx 3000) at the end of the year that will be drastically more powerful...

Switching to pc with all the know how you have allows you also to concentrate on the things you really like since you know everything already so it shouldnt be to bothersome to get to a decent point...

oh and we pc players are simply shinier than all the console peasants...

    Hello.

I'm a bit sad for your recently bad experience. Like other I think you should move to PC if your PC is good enough for it (eso can be pretty heavy for some PC).

If you come PC-EU, feel free to add @Orack89 and I will craft you some gear so you won't take long to catch-up and you'll meet many good people I'm sur :)
But, if you think the game won't give you fun now, maybe look for something else.

In any choice you'll make I'm sur you gonna be happy, for now you just need to move one to something other than your ESO PS4 at least.

Also, outside of one guy who got immediately kick, I never have seen these boring guys annoyed girl like in other game.

I’ve only had a couple of gross sexist encounters personally (specifically directed at me and not counting the lame edgelords blabbering in zone chat): one dude deciding to drown me out with sex noises because I had the temerity to answer a question someone posed in the zone voice channel (ugh and ew) and another dude telling me he wanted to give me gold because women have a harder time in video games because of our feeble ladybrains 🙄

WoW (the only other MMO I have had quite a bit of experience in) was way, waaaaaay worse. So yay ESO! I’ve definitely encountered a lot more fellow women in this game, from casual all the way up to the sweatiest of sweaties, than I ever did in WoW.

But you know, different folks have different experiences and all that.

The personal side of your post resonated with me, not because my journey is similar to yours but because the main reason I am still playing every day since beta and as much as I enjoy the game, content and world created by ZOS it is not that that makes ESO sticky for me.

The people I play with are a large reason why I still play ESO so I can empathise. I only hope that that you find a group of people to help fulfil that part which is clearly part of what you need personally to find enjoyment.

As others have said, close off the PS4 chapter and start a new story and set of experiences on PC. I did the same when I transitioned over from XBox. There's a few people I miss playing with, and it was pretty sucky to have to start characters over, farming all my gear again, achievements, and push myself to do content I'd completed before--but once I got started, it didn't really feel like a chore and much of the excitement I had in my early play-throughs came back. Haven't looked back to be honest.

Thank you so much to all of you for your support! I started playing on PC last night and I think now there will be no going back as I am quite excited to complete all the quests and level up slowly as I do so! I even got my dream house back haha so that Im truly settled! Now on to just thinking of the game and filter out bad memories!

And yes you guys are right I am a female gamer too and Id be more than happy to make female friends in game! <3 I do play on EU though so if any of you want to add me please let me know either by private message or however you feel comfortable!

Thank you all so much once again it feels quite peaceful to be back in the eso world! And thank you for the offers of better gear but at the moment Im such low level that it would be quite wasteful because Im not even a champion yet and as I go around the world I also do my writs daily so hopefully I wont need help by the time I grow up haha but I really appreciate it!

Also blue and purple furnishing plans.....especially Telvanni ones. And pretty flowers like mountain flower, cornflower and columbine...because all women like flowers.

Oh...and I also really like any amount of kelp and sea type things.

    Just sayin'

    ;)

I would like to add to this that if anyone wants to give me gold, tempers, crimson nirnroot (women looove aloe plants!), or new furnishing plans, on account of my own feeble ladybrains, I would definitely shower that man in love and attention.*

*for two seconds and then never contact them again

I'd say at the end of the day do what's best for you. If this game can help you feel better than go for it. If it's going to make you feel worse perhaps not the best idea. Just take care of yourself. I can't say for PS4 but as for PC I can help you out if you're on there and I'm in a guild that doubles as an emotional support group if you need that.
