Hello,
the patch notes for 6.1.0 mentioned that Crystal Fragments would proc off itself.
I have tested this intensively and I can safely say that this effect does not yet happen. Needs to be fixed please.
It seems like they do proc of the hard cast though (why) and making them a semi (bad) spammable with the lower cast time (why). I was happy too to see patch notes, up till people tested. Nightblades got a hefty buff though of 250 spell dmg or something.

Nightblades did not get a damage buff in terms of a weapon or spell damage number.
Grim Focus was changed for more crit damage (10% to be exact), which is an average of around 5% due to the stacks being consumed every 5 light attacks.
That does make a little difference but nothing major.
Also, if the frags can really proc off themselves and it is really a bug, it means frags got a slight buff overall.

They did this by reducing the cast time and adding perks like the cost reduction and the ability to proc itself. Adding those perks to the proc is just unnecessary on a skill that was already very powerful.

Well you can debate over the term 'unneccessary'. But the text isn't really clear...
So let's see what the response is and what the devs really wanted to do here.

Class balance is all relative. An ill-conceived buff to one class is just a nerf-in-disguise to all of the others.
As for my "credentials" for being in this thread (because I apparently have to play a class to have an opinion on it), my "main" for the last 2-3 months has been a sorc healer (PvE and BG PvP), and I'm extremely disappointed to be losing Crystal Blast (AoE burst damage that procs Blood Magic which then procs Power Surge = Good Times). The fact that it was considered to be the (almost) undisputably weaker morph is enough to indicate that the Frags proc doesn't need a buff.

@ZOS_GinaBruno
I think it needs clarification before we will talk about a bug. Does patch note means frags can proc of their own proc or only of hard casted frags?

Crystal fragments used to proc from hard casting even before this patch.. So it should proc from crystal frag proc now...

I don't chase you, I just found that again the only person that have something against buffing others is you
Just because frags is the more popluar choice, doesn't mean it doesn't deserve a buff when we take into consideration performance of magsorc as a whole. Maybe it's my skill (lol, that can't be) or bad skills of sorcs I met, but I havent met magsorc that was able to kill me in 1v1 for a very long time, TBH its more the other way around eventhough I play magblade. Thats why I think that this could be good change, ofc, % chance should be monitored to not overbuff sorc so they could spam proced frags one after another for the whole fight but nevertheless, such change could bring something nice to this spec which was the target of many nerfs recently to.

Be very careful Mayrael, for you spread the word of herecy.
A magblade - the worst class of all - always beats magsorc - the alleged strongest class of all - in a 1v1 over and over? This would go against the belief of all Nightblades on the forums. A magblade can not beat magsorcs; nobody can.
Well, so they say.

Magblade is not in a good shape by any means (just like magsorc) but it still can be very dangerous, the trick is not to follow cookie cutter builds and right hands on it
I'm sure you already know it but it needs to be said for some of us. If you meet 1 strong magblade or sorc per 50 or 100 magblades/sorcs in total, it doesn't mean the class is OP, it means you've met good player. The easiest way to tell if class is strong, is to look how average "Joe" handles it

From my observation, the average person handles Sorcerer terribly, which fueled my picture of them being a pretty weak class. People always want to tell me it's the top class, but I really do not see that at all. To me, it's a poor class just like Magblade.
What I always found strong about magblade was the high damage mittigation they had for a light armor build. It remains to be seen if that does not change now where Merciless Resolve lost the damage mitigation.

pretty easy to test. log into live on a sorc and start hard casting frags. tested around 50 frags hard casts and not a single proc so its safe to say it cant proc off itself on live
to be honest if this change goes through and cfrags instant procs cant proc off of itself and only the hardcast it's going to be very disappointing. one of the few things i was looking forward to this patch.

Wait, hard cast frags doesn’t proc instant frags on live? Since when? It definitely did a few months ago, and I don’t remember anything about a change. Not that I’ve intended to hard cast frags much, but I’m 100% sure I’ve gotten frag procs from accidental hard casts in the past.

I can't speak for what it was actually doing "a few months ago", but the tooltip is pretty unambiguous that only "other magicka abilities" can proc instant frags, and that definitely hasn't changed in years.

Sure enough. I just checked on live and hard casts of frags no longer proc instant frags. Now I'm curious when that behavior ended and if it was ever intended. The tooltip is a little ambiguous, does it mean "ability other than Crystal Frags" or "ability other than instant proc Crystal Frags"? Both have apparently been true at various times, with the former currently the case on live and the latter on PTS. This means that the patch note makes a lot more sense now, and maybe even on PTS there is no intent for instant procs to generate additional instant procs.
