Death of a friend, requesting character relocation. Is this possible?

Greetings,

I opened a ticket but after 12 months, I have not received a response. I have a RL friend who passed away and loved ESO. I was wanting to have his main character moved to his absolute favorite zone: The Colored Rooms. I understand this doesnt 'mean anything' but it would to him. I am more than willing to pay any service cost for the time it would take a CSR to do this; if this is at all possible.

It'd be rather nice if ZOS could do something like this; Elder Scrolls itself is a long standing franchise so it's no surprise that the games are held near and dear to some peoples hearts.

For those that may ask why it matters; you can open your friend list/guild list and see the last location of the player.

The only problem I can imagine is I'm not sure if the zone was ever specifically called "The Colored Rooms" in ESO or was just treated as a sub-zone (Kind of like how that one Akatosh zone in Dragonhold DLC didn't have it's own zone name in "Location" windows.)

I hope the CSRs can help you out. I've lost a lot of friends over the years I've played MMOs, and while some wouldn't have been interested in this sort of remembrance, others would have wanted to "live forever" in a given area.

Good luck friend, and my best to you; love and karma on their way....

Sorry to hear about your friend. This is certainly a very nice thought and Zos has gone to greater lengths when a player has passed away. One thing to note that over time the location in the guild roster/friends list may go blank but at least you know their favorite character is where they enjoyed the most.

Hopefully, @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_BillE will be able to help in some manner. Good luck.

I think it would be amazing if ZOS took the effort to make a small zone/pocket of Oblivion called the Coloured Room where, at the request of friends, if a player dies, they can have their favourite character be placed in that pocket of Oblivion and had made as an NPC where players friends could go to see them.

ZOS would just have to make it that you can't use weapons or skills in that little zone. But emotes and mementos would be ok.
That would be a really fitting tribute.
Far too many characters to list any more.

I hope that your friend gets heartfelt tribute with ZOS’ help. Until ZOS does something, I am sure the community can help give a proper remembrance.

Our guild has a Remembrance Day for our dear friends and family that have passed on.

You’re a good friend to keep at this @Unknown_Redemption 😊

To receive NO response to such an inquiry is more than a bit cynical. Even if they can't honor your request, one would think the common decency of a response was in order.

I hope that this gets handled, I will put in a ticket for this and reference this post..it will do nothing but create backup until it is handled, especially if enough of us make a fuss about it! @ZOS_GinaBruno Please do something to address this at the very least

I would not be concerned Zos has not replied as of yet. It is their weekend and for the most part, only have people managing the forum and CS operating. They will likely take the time to consider this before they respond.

Correct, I also want to approach this as respectfully as possible. They would be doing me a tremendous favor for an unusual request and I dont want to come across as anything but humbled.

I certainly hope this is not the case!

We had a well-loved guild friend pass a couple of years ago, and I still appreciate being able to see his name in the guild roster, in my friends list, and being able to visit his in-game home to reflect and chat with him about things from time to time.

This is essentially just a request to modify an account you don't own. I'm not quite sure how people expect ZOS to distinguish between a legitimate request to relocate a character owned by someone who died, and a malicious request to relocate a character owned by someone who just hasn't logged in lately.

ESO has had millions of players, and people die every day. Honoring one over others is unfair, and honoring everyone is time consuming.

Just take heart that your friend has passed into the Colored Rooms themself.

Some people make shrines to their friends who have passed away.

Some want them on their friend's list to see that they were in their favourite place.

A simple request to move someone's location is a simple enough. If you have nothing to really say of value then don't say anything please.

I buried my childhood friend more than twenty years ago. I still have her things on top of a shelf. Despite me moving several times, it still stands as if she would come by any day. Her watch is part of it, that picture taken on the road, her favorite flower.

Small things. But she’s here, it almost as if I could reach and touch her, just one last time.

I do hope they’ll do this for you.

Like anything that happened recently?! Are you serious with this comment? It is obvious they honored exactly 1 over others.

@Unknown_Redemption if you can please let us know how things are proceeding. If you cannot I completely understand.

    Best of luck 😊

@ZOS_RichLambert please give us a better way to remember our loved ones and friends in the game.

A plaque that was interactive that has the players name on with a small message.

Something that we could buy in the crown stores and place in a home would be nice.

I have a link to a plea I made in the crown store section, if you wouldn’t mind @Unknown_Redemption

His account has been offline for 3 years, I doubt they would think this is a malicious request.

Even if that would happen to someone, couldn't they just move their character to another place after logging in? Fast-travel? Or sending a message to the support? It's just a relocation.

Correct, I am not requesting any access, just a move for one character. They have done it for me in the past when I got trapped in a cycling load screen/crash issue.

Blizzard gives family access to a departeds account if a death certificate is shown, I highly doubt anything can be done unless a similar effort went into this.

    Wow. That would be lovely.

I would support this request, and any similar ones. I think that a "world" including such tributes is a richer more meaningful world.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

    I sympathize with you, @Unknown_Redemption

This is a very nice thought and act of you, and I really support it. I hope SOZ lends you a hand on this one.

They might need a death certificate or another "proof" of your friend's passing as someone else mentioned, to minimize the risk of exploiting such a thoughtful action, which is understandable.

Thank you for sharing this. I realize that I should probably park my main at my primary residence, in cases where I might not be able to play for some time.

In worst case, if I go, my little brother will at least be able to visit "me" at our beloved Sleek Creek, in case he wants to chat about anything, or just get something off his chest. It may be a bit weird, but maybe he can get a notion of me lingering in the ambient atmosphere by the fireplace, where we would use to sit and chat about nothing and everything. And anything in between.

    I don't usually quote the Bible, but I want to mention Mark 13.33;
"Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is."

Sorry for derailing a bit here. But it might happen at any time, at any place. And I just want the ESO community to stay safe and well. Take care of yourself, and the ones around you. And enjoy Tamriel, of course :)
