So far I have gotten 3 different ones but I have looted every single container, desk, drawer....basically anything lootable that I have come across, I had to make 2 alts to store all of the stuff I looted because I eventually want to use them for professions/other alts. I really can't say where or what I got each one off of because I had auto-loot on and I never check my bags unless I get full so I was pretty surprised to see them popping up here and there.

Now I'm wondering if I should use the books or sell them...can't make up my mind what to do with them.

I've gone through Coldharbour with five (!) characters and not gotten a single motif book... let me tell you I truly Hate the rng, specially since one of my guildies went through Coldharobur and got 4 of the darn books.

It gives you the ability to create armor and weapons in the style of whatever race's motif you learned.

I got: High elves and Orcs.

I found none Sunday and Monday, however Tuesday I found 2. One inside the bank, I just search every wardrobe and desk, bed side cabinet etc that I come across and I searched the bank ones numerous times before I got lucky yesterday

I found a Altmer racial motif book earlier this evening.

In the first town on the AD side the bank has a bunch of trunks, cabinets, and dressers. Just log out to refresh them. I find 1 in about 5 logs. Haven't found any of the rare motiffs yet though.

It is all random luck. I found none on my main. I made an alt went to bank checked bookselves while there found the kitty and redguard right off at lvl 3 on an alt ad side..
I have found a few now and one came out of a basket in a house but most have been bookshelves.

Motifs 1-9 are "common" those are the racial styles for all the basic races Motif 10 is imperial, it is a bit rarer. Motifs 11-14 are rarest, ancient elf, barbaric, primal, and daedric. They supposedly only drop in veteran rank 1+ areas daedric motif selling for as much as 50-60k a book.
(I found a primal while in a VR1 zone rummaging through peoples houses too)
