I've seen tutorials on building many fireplaces, and some are very impressive. But they are all so huge!

I am a minimalist, and would like to build a small cozy fireplace for my reading area. If you have any ideas, please post them here.

It'd help to see the space you're working with!

For a small fireplace you can try using basic stone blocks, something like 2 long ways, with the thinner side forward for the mantle and hearth, with one vertically on either side, then bury a brazier in a pile of logs.

Or some of the throne ideas turn out pretty small.

The absolute smallest fire place I can think of would be using the Argonian Lamp, Mud pressed a bit into the wall with some sort of chimney above it, maybe made from cups or vases?

Or for a reading room depending on the shelves you are using, you could build it between two book cases using scavenged plate as a mantle and hearth?

If you show us the space you are working with we will probably have better ideas.

If you can sink them, the tops of 2 or 3 Redguard Well, Arched make a small and interesting fireplace.

Also, those fireplaces in the link by Chryseia are amazing.

This is the room with the reading area. I have outlined the max dimensions I would like this fireplace to be. I will have to use a column or something else for the chimney to cover the window it will be in front of.

Or, I could move the chair and table over to the window and put the fireplace where they are now. I just don't want it any bigger just because there would be more room for it against the other wall. I want it cozy.

My recommendation would be Hlaalu Stove, Chiminea now that I've seen your space. maybe with a golden urn or vase sank into the top of the chimney, or a golden kajiit statue/trinket embedded in the chimney to make it match the style of the house

A dwemer pipe on top works AMAZINGLY well, especially if you get the one with the elbow bend, but they're a little rare in guild stores.

EDIT: Oh, you were talking about style, not the flue. Nevertheless!

I would go that route, if I were you.

Shame to cover up a window, if you don't have to.

What I ended up doing was making a corner fireplace, but it was still bigger than I wanted for that space, so I moved it down to my sitting room. So now I am looking for smaller pieces to try for a smaller corner fireplace again.

Here is what I ended up doing. The first fireplace, that was too large for the reading room, I placed in my sitting area. Then I made a new, smaller corner fireplace for the reading area. It's not very ornate, so I plan to switch out the plain round tables I used for more ornate ones as I find them.

Thank you! And I already had most of the components, so I didn't have to buy much.
