Why are so few pvpers?

There are few PVPers because PVP is totally overlooked in ESO, as if ZOS doesnt care at all.

Performance is total garbage. Cyro is unplayable.

Today got kicked from server 3 times in a row.

And ZOS does nothing with the ballgroup cross-heals that outheal any incoming dmg.

This is not pvp anymore. It's a broken lag-fest where zergs ruin everything and individual skill is diminished.

Can't speak for whole nonPvP comunity (obviously), but as I see it, there just doesn't seem to be any room for casual players in ESO's PvP. PvP isn't something you can do an hour a day after dragging yourself home after work, tiered and looking for bit of entertainment to unwind. There is no easy mode for PvP. You're facing real people, who are largely higher level, have better gear and are mostly better players than you, if nothing else than by virtue of having been playing this game (and / or other MMOs) for years. It's like playing vet content all the time. You either get serious about it and invest enough time and dedication to get high tier gear, right meta build and gaming skill to swim with (killer) sharks, or you are going to have bad time. Or you can do what most of ESO population probably does - stay on PvE side of the map.

Because update 25 ruined the pvp part of the game. Endless loading screens. Being dumped unexpectedly after being in Q for 1 hr. Stopped dead still and hit with loading screen in middle of a run. Wasting a potion or scroll with no return. Sometimes I would swear they roll things back and don't tell us.

One day in February it was great, the next it sucked so badly I have stopped playing.

It was my favorite part of the game. I am now drifting aimlessly trying ti find something ingame that is interesting. It's sorta like a treasure hunt.

Like I mentioned, getting the right gear is not difficult for pvp, you can play pvp solo for couple hours right back from work, some fights you win, some you lose, if you keep going on you will get better.

Actually that's one of the reasons why I like it, I don't need to wait for 12 man group till everyone shows up, I can hop on everytime I want to by myself, if there are some friends online I join them, if not I go alone. Not a problem.

If you stick with it you will learn, ESO pvp combat system is best of all MMO's to me, it rewards timing and quick reaction, you can make different good builds and playstyles and be successful.

Yes you need to pay attention and get serious if you are fighting a good player or being outnumbered. Whats wrong with that? It's fun, because it's not easy, it's not boring, because everytime there are different opponents or groups to fight against under different circumstances. It's like a vet dungeon/arena with different difficulty and mechanics every time you play.

After thinking about this my first post was not correct.

The reason we have so few PvP players is because of Zos' mismanagement of the game has heavily impacted PvP. Even in the early months of this game solid PvP players left because of the poor manner that Zos handled issues that effects PvP as Zos would not fix one issue without breaking a couple more.

While Cyrodil has never performed in a fabulous manner, I am at odds with how a game can perform worse six years after it launched then it did during its first year. We have far fewer players in a campaign that is pop locked than we did six years ago which means we have far fewer players at any given keep with a major battle yet we have worse performance not to forget Zos has also removed many necessary assets. This points to only one problem and that is Zos' has not managed this game well. All this is why the exodus from PvP has continued.

It is my hope, though I am cautious with that hope, that Zos is trying to get more serious about finding a solution to the game's performance. This past year's performance improvement plan was not exactly stellar.

Perfomance issues and tanky builds with high damage kill it for me. I think if you're gonna hit hard, then you shouldn't also get to be tanky.

I believe we actually agree here. One can most definitely get better at PvP by putting enough time and effort to it. Saddly, there's no "playing couple hours after work" for me. It's hour or less on most workdays, with weekends being little bit better. Add playing exhausted and combat rewarding timing and quick reactions becomes very un-fun. There's nothing wrong with PvP (or other more intense high end content), it just isn't for me (and people like me).

It's very repetitive and it has no story line. Give my a story of some sort to follow and I will spend more time in Cyrodiil.
    My Characters.

    Tormund gro-Largash - Orsimer - Dragonknight - Two-Handed - Daggerfall Covenant - Furious.
Lysa Rivers - Breton - Nightblade - Bow/One-Handed and Shield - Vampire - Daggerfall Covenant - Brassy Assassin.

    Jon Karstark - Nord - Dragonknight - Two-Handed - Ebonheart Pact - Drunk.
Arya Sand - Dunmer - Dragonknight - Dual Wield - Ebonheart Pact - Assassin.

It's simple. Too much frustration...not enough fun.

    Well said.

And there are many many reasons for said frustration, and some of them depend a lot on the individual and their preference/playstyle

    -lag
    -gankers
    -to long to get anywhere
-AP is set up to benefit zerging
    -slow horses
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

This topic seems rather educational even, never though that so many people are avoiding pvp just because you need to actually build for it. Not sure it's same laziness all over again or a lack of gear/skill swap that should be built ingame long time ago.

Yeah it's kind of strange. Even if I go to do a normal 1 key pledge with my pvp char, I change skills and armor sets, it doesn't take much time to do it, there is addon to change sets/skills with 1 button push.

I guess they just don't like pvp in general.

My only big problem of pvp is performance of cyrodiil at peak hours, but you can go to IC, battlegrounds, lower pop campaign during that time.

I just found so extrange why so few people pvp on this game. Been in 2 spanish guilds, both with like a 400 people in it, around 50 actives on peak hours, still im THE ONLY ONE who plays PVP. Mostly Bgs and IC becouse of that. The rest just go to Cyro to do the daylies and same at IC.

Is the same in other comunitties? Do you know any Pact faction active on PvP on EUPC?

    1. performance issues this is a main problem just like ponly few people enjoy pvp decided mainly by server connection performance. during prime time this game is nearly unplable with masive desync. many players inlcude me do not feel fun when kill someone with desync or get instant kill with zero possible counter play..
    2. Bad desing things in the game which provide unnecesary advantage for griding or night cap players/faction (IC, imperial physique , in cyro scroll and empt bonuses..)
    3. totaly *** BG system which standard make 3v3v4 teams and let it like this for more than 5 mins...
    4. unblanced setups
    5. ZOS hammer balanced method just like not balancing things just each patch destroy builds and force people to farm new meta gear.. unfortenly many people just get tired to farm each now update complety new gear on severals charakters (I pesrsonaly see biggest advantage in to be able to have all clasess and maintanin them and pick based on mood different skils
    6. lack of reasonable rewards in pvp. 95% gear which u make form pvp is ussulally useless just to trade to mechatns, there are some honnorable mentions ( like potentates, spell strategist} but meta builds for pvp ussually not use any gear from pvp..

but even PVE is lack of players.. like avarage time for HC dung finder as dps is like 30 mins in avarage (PC EU), just to compate the time to comeptition games even private servers of comepetitor game .. ts like u will complete the dung befor eso acctulaly make party to dung which is strange

It's either I'm decked out in an elite setup and skills, OR I stand 0 opportunity to have any sort of success.

I wore the same gear for 4 years with some minor jewelry changes. PvP was fun when it worked, you don't need to be have an elite setup.

When i played if I was defending a keep and some elite player kept killing me, I would ask for help. In most cases the elite player ended up dying at some point.

    Reasons I play PvP:

Change of pace / Daily BG rewards / Quick unwind or break / occasional LOL.

    Reasons I don´t play PvP:

Already gotten emperor / I don´t feel like being social online (no PvP guild) / no clear goal or good reward left in Cyrodiil.

Take your pick. I never had huge problems with lag.
