Anyone know exactly how long it takes to charge up a fully charged heavy attack to get ressources back?

Also, is the it more efficient to get ressources back than skills such as dark deal, meditate when you take tenacity CP into account?

How long it takes exactly depends on the weapon/animation. Generally, staffs are fully charged shortly before they auto-fire (ca. 2s), bows are fully charged after 1.5s, and melee weapons are already fully charged at half the animation time (~1s).

For efficiency it depends on your priorities:
Meditate trades dps for resources, and can be used very effectively as a quick rest between phases of a longer fight.
Dark exchange heals you and trades one resource for the other, an efficient use for the off-resource.
Heavy attacks can be used naturally in the flow of combat without needing a precious weapon-bar slot.

This is extremely interesting, that means you can get ressources back faster from heavy attacks if you can time it instead of ending the animation.

So if you can micro heavy attacks into your rotation it should help susatain faster and tanks can block more with the extra stam without being in the full animation.

This is actually not correct. All weapons return resources and hit their full damage before their animation is complete. Melee weapons are the worst.

    DW is 900ms; 1,600ms anim.
    2H is 1,100; 2,100ms anim.
    Bow is 1,600ms; 2,400ms anim.

In my opinion it's actually really sloppy game design. You are punished for holding your heavies longer. But we all know gameplay is secondary to the crown store. It's too bad they didn't go through with some of the proposed LA/HA changes. Normalizing some of the heavy attack times, taking the absolutely f'ing stupid self-snare on channels would have been such a big step forward for the game.

Just macro your heavies. I do it and you should do it, too.

Yeah, estimates are never 100% correct, but 0.9s and 1.1s are pretty close to 1s, aren't they?
That's 56.25% resp. 52.38% of the animation time, according to your numbers, close enough to "half" for me.

Anyway, as you implied, the knowledge about fractions of a second means nothing in practice, and you either need to train the muscle memory, or use other means to use heavy attacks 100% effectively.
