Perhaps that's unwise because selling the material might be more profitable than selling items bought with writ vouchers, but I haven't really investigated that. Until recently I had been busy getting all the set tables for my sweatshop. For this the 'big' jewelry writs were very useful.
Coincidentally, the blue ones in (arcane/robust/healthy) are the only ones I do. I did one gold one that was worth something like 600+ vouchers, but otherwise I prefer to save my higher tier tempers in case I actually need them for upgrading jewelry I plan on using.
It is useful to do 1 (and only 1) gold JC writ on your main crafter, just so that you can get the achievement and unlock the gold dye, especially if you need/want to use said dye in an outfit.

I have yet to upgrade a set of Jewelry for my self to Gold, not going to do that for a Writ.
I guess if I was trying to get all the Set Stations as a Goal I would. But I have Guild Halls for that.
