I'm not sure if there is a way to do this--but from what I've been hearing--there's no way for a player to enter in a guild's name in the Guild Finder so they can apply to a specific guild. If this is the case--can we please have this feature added? I have no idea why it's not an option. Every other game in existence lets you do this.

    I absolutely agree. Searching for a guild based on its listed activities is extremely frustrating, particularly as the guild list isn't in alphabetical order.
    "So, drinking is a sacrament to Y'ffre... because it's his way of reminding us not to take things too seriously... You know how the other Elves are. Altmer have their crystal towers, and that's how they want to be — cold and perfect. And Dunmer are just like their Red Mountain — smouldering and dark. We just want to have a drink and not worry about it."

    And text search for the description. A lot of specialty guilds e.g. roleplay niches, housing contests, etcetera can't be found with the categories.

    I was sure there was one, but it seems it's actually provided by Votan's Search Box, so on PC you can use that to search by name, text or even by merchant location:

    That looks like a handy addon, will have to give that a try 🧐🙂

    I hadn’t paid much attention to guild finder, the search parameters were useless and the thought of scrolling through what feels like a billion micro guilds just switched me off 😴

    I've been saying the Guild Finder needs a search bar ever since it came out. There's no reliable way to find a Guild with it other than luck thanks to three things:

    1) Nothing is ordered, so if you're looking for a specific name, you can't scroll to a specific letter and find it that way. If I know a Guild starts with the letter D but don't know the full name, I can't even scroll down to the D's to look because there's no alphabetical ordering;

    2) You only get one page of results, and I've reached the end of it without seeing the names of Guilds I know exist. That means any given 'search' will leave out dozens or even hundreds of results, and might require you to back out and go back into the Guild finder any number of times. I don't understand why you don't get the option to go through pages like you do with Guild Traders whose stores have more than 100 items;

    3) Every time you leave the Guild Finder and go back in, the Guilds you get and the order they're in changes, which means if you find a Guild you're interested in but accidentally back out of the Finder before applying, there's a VERY good chance you won't find it again if you go back in

    Number three imo is the biggest reason we need to be able to search by name, because as it is now, if you leave the Guild Finder after finding a good Guild but before having a chance to apply (which can happen for any number of reasons), you're basically SOL when it comes to finding it again.

    Both of these could be refined by not allowing every guild to put themselves in every category just to grab members.

    The amount of guilds I've seen listed under "Fishing" "Roleplay" "Housing" "Justice" or "Questing" that literally do 0 of those things as guild events is hilariously astounding.

    That would definitely help, though I'm not sure how they'd limit what categories a GM could list their guild under. Some guilds are social and do literally all those things, so while the obvious answer might be "limit how many categories a GM can list their Guild under", it would prevent the Guilds who do all those from selecting them. Of course, that's not much of a problem really; the GM of a social guild could still list everything they do in the description field, while only selecting the categories they focus on most like Questing, Dungeons, and Housing.

    Or maybe upon creating a Guild, a GM can select two or three categories their Guild falls under, and that's what said Guild is automatically listed under for the Guild Finder? Kind of the same thing, except it would make the whole thing a bit more streamlined I think.

    That would probably be the best way is allowing them to select lets say up to 5 "main" categories; they can list any extras in the description.
    After all there is an equally amount of guilds that tag themselves under "Trials" and then have in their guild description" We have weekly trial events!" and I can't help but think "Well I really freaking hope so."

    But yeah; limiting guilds to five main categories would make it a lot easier to find niche passion guilds that's currently not easy to do in addition to weeding out people who list themselves under the "trader" category but don't actually put forth effort to maintaining a trader. (I'm not talking about new trader guilds that are still in a bid war for their first spot; I'm talking guilds that do not even bid but still list themselves.)

    Or...they could just let you actually "Search" for the guild by name like every other search engine on Earth. Even mobile games let you search for a guild by name.
