Shadow because Critical Damage is too good to not invest in for PVE. Critical Damage is overpowered because it takes your damage done after all the buffs, spell damage etc and then adds the Crit Damage modifier. So in short stacking Critical Damage is not only preferable but downright required if you have any hope of hitting high damage numbers. The question is simple.

Is more sustain or more resources worth giving up 19% Critical Damage?

Let us assume your DPS is 30000 without Crit.

    Without Shadow

    30000 + 80% = 54000

    With Shadow

    30000 + 99% = 59700

That is 5700 DPS you are missing out on. Of course you will not Crit on every hit and so Thief is good if your Crit Chance is not at the very least 50%. Critical Damage is 50% at base... it is just too good to not stack it.

Yep. I thought it looked familiar when I read it. I can't believe its not been shut down. But I guess it is a question Ive asked regularly and prob need to ask again so can't really blame whoever necro'd it first. And second. And third.........

Like I say, I did some passes (just 3m) whjch seemed to confirm lover best for my sorc - but they were a long time ago. plus i usually pug or am solo.

For unorganized groups lover/pen is better. In organizing groups shadow is best with atleast 70% crit which is ezy to get with mothers sorrow / julianos/spell crit potion

wow this is necromancy. This post s opened at 2015 and now someone is reviving.

Yes i was reviving it ;-)
@TheDarkoil : is your math correctly with the % ? Is it really that plain simple to compare what might be best ?

@Chilly-McFreeze : you say the crit modifier is how much extra damage you do. Is crit modifier the same as critical damage percentage ? Mine is at 52% . Is it correct to say that it always start at 50% and can increase ?
In other words i have the normal 50% criticial strike + 2% additionaly to that ?

I think its really important that folk understand what Mundus, or in fact what any aspect of your build you use, depends on the rest of the build. Often you cannot look at any one aspect alone, because its the whole that matters.

If your crit is low (and its not a wpn/spell damage focused build), then maybe Thief Mundus is best for your build. If your weapon damage is low, then perhaps Warrior Mundus is best for your build. And so on.

However, as a general rule if you are following the meta, I think it is fair to say most often it is Shadow Mundus, for crit damage increase. I have seen an increased use of The Lover for some builds lately (penetration;-)

CP passive, Minor and Major Prophecy should easily get you to 50% crit even without Mother's Sorrow. Shadow is just the best choice.
Lover would be the best choice for certain solo purposes. It is used in dps tests to reduce the dummy's armor to 0, a vast dps increase. But in a proper group, your tank should have this covered.

    Greetings all,

As this thread is quite old we have gone ahead and closed it. As this thread is so old some of the information in the thread is likely out of date. You can create a new thread and continue the discussion there. Thank you for your understanding.
