Secret Worlds Legends' system is painfully awful. It's mobile-f2p-collecting-game style - almost everything that drops is lv1 Green gear... and you have to feed all your extra drops to level up your Green gear to lv20, then level up another Green to lv20, then combine them into a Lv1 Blue & level it up to 30 or 40. Then make another max level Blue, and combine the two into a Lv1 Purple. Etc, etc, etc.

"rare" drops or dungeon bosses might drop a lv1 Blue. Raids very rarely might drop a purple. Etc. Endless, super grind. (combined with loot being boring as hell, since 99% of what drops is just trash to feed to your preferred gear.)

(oh, but you can get great Purples out of lockboxes! :| )

...which is a shame, because the storyline/setting/questing/lore is great.

Secret world gear system sounds nice on a surface but holy mother of god, its a grind. and its a grind that you absolutely positively cannot avoid if you want to even do the story, as you are going to have hard time in later zones with unupgraded gear.

neverwinter does this to some degree, but its almost as grindy as Secret world and .. just no.

I personaly much prefer the way you can upgrade gear in ESO. TBH.
    dirty worthless casual.

    Secret world.

Never played that, so what I saw wasn’t that one.
Nice to know there are others though.

Also, what would people think of this process being brought into this game?

It is probably not worth the trouble. Most people just shoot through levels in a week or two using whatever junk they can find so that they can start collecting the "real" gear at the end. You would have to introduce a whole new game mechanic that would hardly get used.

In secret world it works because there are no high level drops, everything drops at level 1 and you have to level it up after.
Agree, new players are as you say using dropped gear from the overworld. For alts crafted sets are common, say level 10 and 30 perhaps extra weapons at 20 and 40 if you do random dungeons.

And yes its annoying if you get bis weapons doing an dungeon on an low level alt or some cp40 get it and offer to trade.
But this is pretty much the only real use of this.

Then you have the no gear option:)

Use on alts who don't have gear, starting it as an standard as I once entered an random dungeon as an very fake healer as in having no gear, she was nude under the costume. had an staff from coldharbor I think.
I was leveling two alts and they shared gear.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I think it would be cool if you could do it with monster sets, mythic gear, and perfect or normal arena weapon drops like maelstrom or dsa. I don't think it would be that cool with regular, but specialized gear like those could be fun. I remember a friend of mine got his velidreth when it was on top with crits when he was under lvl 50. Maybe they could introduce an actual set from a quest or something that requires you to level a character from level 1 to get that gear to max level or something too.
