When I walk into the "Blue Palace", my framerate drops to 15fps.

In many areas, gameplay feels more fluid, but when I walk into the Blue Palace, (a relatively small area), my framerate drops noticeably.

I have an older Radeon at 1080 that I have all the sliders maxed,, and it usually plays between 45-60fps.

My guess is that this is an area where no combat will occur, so they "force" graphical enhancements that aren't available elsewhere. It does look quite bright and detailed in there.

Does this mean its time to buy a new graphics card, or is anyone else experiencing this glitch?

There's something else going on. I'm playing on a 1070, and it's not bothered by the Blue Palace at all.

So, it's probably not your graphics card, since I'm using a lesser one, and doing fine.

I do have 32 GB of RAM, and a 6-core processor, and I run the OS from SSD. (Game from 2 TB HD) Any and or all of those could make a difference, since ESO is not exactly the best-optimized client. It works fine on my machine, but, I can see it having issues with lesser setups.

I dont own Greymoor so I cant tell how much stress this area puts on your pc. But framedrop may be caused by your gpu not being able to handle it or your cpu. (you can easily check it with a programm like Afterburner, the one with the highest usage may cause bottleneck)

Try setting shadows to medium or low and tell me if you notice any difference, if it's the cpu.

Try lowering textures, if it's the gpu.

I think he means a Radeon at 1080p resolution.

After re-reading, I agree. That may go back to the 'not-very-well-optimized client' issue.

This isn't even a 'gaming' computer. I do a fair amount of development (well, debugging) using VMs on this computer, so it's more optimized for that, and doesn't get bothered by the ESO client. This isn't really a 'gaming rig' in the usual sense.

I'm getting less than 8fps when I first walk in there. If I wait, it sorts itself out (a bit). It's much the same thing that was happening in Senchal until they fixed it. Mine usually runs between 50/60 too.

So, it was a bug on their end?

I checked and its a Radeon 7850. I used to overclock it some, but its not worth the effort for ESO as it usually runs fine.

The CPU is an i7 stable overclocked to 4.6G with Corsair water.

Could be, I guess, but usually bugs usually affect everyone; i.e. if it's bugged, it should drag everyone down.

There is no way it's a cpu issue, then. I think your GPU cant handle the game.

Ofc it could always be a client issue. Cant speak for sure cause I cant access the area.

Could it be that my older Radeon does not support a library that some of the newer ones do?

For instance, it could be running calculations that more modern cards don't have to because they have a library that does it.

The 7850 I own still works fine at 1080p for most things. Even on advanced games, I only have to play with the sliders to find a good frame rate.

It could be an underspeced graphics card, but the rest of the game runs fast and fluid, its just in that small area. ESO is not particularly demanding from a graphics standpoint.

Thats why I'm asking if anyone else is experiencing it. If its a bug they will fix, I'll wait. If this is a portent for things to come, as ZOS increases graphics demands, then I should look into a new card. This is pretty much the only game I play.

I think so, some people were crashing there so they reduced texture memory. I don't know if this is the same thing, but I get it in some other interiors as well as the Blue Place, but not others. So weird.

I've been having this problem too. Everything runs smooth until I go to the Blue Palace and then the game turns into a slideshow. If I stay there for a little while my fps goes back to normal, though.

That's a penalty for letting the door slam.

    Gotta be genteel
