So when looking at guide for how to get desired items for the system im seeing a MAJOR flaw...

The Dutiful Guar (purple) - safeboxes
Tri-Angled Truth Altar (purple) - safeboxes
Tall Papa's Lamp (purple) - safeboxes
Moonlight Mirror (gold) - Safebox
Riven King's Throne (purple) - safebox

so basically for leads for items we must become thiefs, this is not good at all i do hope these are only one of many possible ways to aquire them as i have never built the character i am leveling the system on with stealing in mind so he cant steal from many of these without getting caught, and since you cant trade leads i cant exactly go on my thief and search for these and send them to him.

Leads are account wide though.

I got the lead for the Riven King’s Throne from a daedric mob in Rivenspire. The sources listed above are not the only sources for those leads.

Its basically Archaeology. The people that once owned this stuff is long dead or forgotten and it makes sense that some of this stuff survived only by being held in a sack, safebox, or some other kind of book or chest.

well thats a relif, honestly zeni really should have been a bit more clear on the system, i mean yes its ment to be hard to find leads thats the fun but i see constant questions being asked about it

I certainly hope leads can be found in different ways. Giving them fixed sources is just lazy and encourages targeted farming, which drains any fun out of an activity and leads to burnout. Not that ZOS are very good at avoiding burnout-inducing activities.

Yeah, they did mention here that leads can come from a variety of sources, but they don’t address whether any leads are locked behind criminal activity, which is a fair question for what is nominally an RPG:

Several community members have started threads to help compile lists of sources for various leads. I’m glad it’s become another way for players to learn from each other, even if it does ultimately derive from a relative lack of information from the devs. Reminds me of Skyrim mods in that way, with mod authors filling a lot of gaps, and players even learning to mod to help themselves and others. I have a feeling most leads will drop from a huge variety of activities, but I’m curious to see what turns out to be fixed.
