Maintenance for the week of December 22:
• NA megaservers for maintenance – December 22, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 8:00AM EST (13:00 UTC)
• EU megaservers for maintenance – December 22, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 8:00AM EST (13:00 UTC)

Is it fair not having any sort of compensation after all this downtime?

What you should really consider is...did they apply fixes in this Greymoor patch? (Fixes to PVP/PVE lag)
I would want a refund for Greymoor more than anything else if these promises (they did state they would come out with Greymoor) weren't true or just stop the B/S now and move on.

At the moment we can't tell, because we can't even log in ;) (PC EU)

Sad really. I decided to go out to mountains and hike came back and honestly... Think I want to put my crate engine in my project today so eh. Just have feel pity for people that can not find ways to enjoy themselves. If he wants 50 cents I can mail it to him. Like I have jar quarters in my garage called the busted knuckle funds. Put 25 cents in each time you cuss at car or bust a knuckle/slice. :d.

Well to be fair, i've prob lost a daily login reward, i've lost daily login writs of 15 characters, i've lost hours that my character couldn't have researched traits with, i've lost hours not being able to do my horse upgrades on my chars that still need it. i've lost paid for subscription time.

Now, i can deal with that. Its the principle of paying for something but not receiving or being able to use the product i've paid for. Maybe if it happened once in a while okay, but it happens systematically, and its not acceptable, to me atleast. and you can tell me that YEAH YEAH YEAH, you Signed this damn EULA, they can whipe their ass on your face. Doesn't change the fact that i'll still have a salty taste in my mouth.

Maybe i'm just entitled that after a day of working, studying, i come home to relax and play a game. that i've paid for. That i keep paying for monthly.(at this point purely ONLY for the craft bag)

If you're okay with this kind of stuff fine, but i'm not.

An expansion is being launched whilst most likely the majority, if not all, of their staff are working from home. God forbid it not be a smooth experience, it's not been attempted before... Can you not actually try and understand that?

I'm not usually the kind of person to complain, and trust me, I understand that issues could and will always happen with a game like this.

But as a customer that paid for the expansion and pay ESO Plus monthly, having all this downtime is a problem. Is 7pm here in the UK and I haven't been able to play the whole day and probably won't be able to play today. I'm not getting any sort of compensation for my wasted subscription or for all the wasted time in loading character info.

    This sucks, really. Rant over.

To be honest the downtime doesn't bother me and I'm not massively bothered about compensation(unless my inability to login continue for several days then my view will change).

What bothers me is that there seems to be a reoccuring capacity issue that happens everytime there is a DLC(or in this case an expansion) released, particularly on PC EU. I'm still new but I've seen it happen multiple times already and have been told by people who have played longer that it is a common occurance. The solution seems obvious, expand capacity, if demand is high enough to cause all these issues, then clearly demand is high enough to justify increasing server capacity and it seems ridiculous that ZeniMax hasn't done so.

How is this a broken product? It is arguably one of the best MMORPG right now; and these kind of issues could easily be solved by some investment in server technology, and withstanding to some of their official statements lately regarding how much they improved their subscription numbers, they could easily solve this issue, at least temporarily. The critique seems sounds and legit, in this case.

ZoS ain't fair mate. Otherwise the EU Server issue would've been addressed long ago. What's the point of compensation on a faulty server in the first place.

Dude I'm paying for the Sub same as you yet I don't play all the time, not even every day. Sometimes I'll even go a week without. Regardless of what the cause is behind me not playing, I dont view my sub payments as wasted. If you feel like yours are, then stop taking the risk and just stop subscribing.

Exactly this thinking had ruined this game. "if 1 has not gotten it then no one has this problem". But well. 1st: no subscription anymore until it is fixed complete. And not only "playable".

i'm kind of in a bind. Its either pay of the craft bag or spent the next coming years spending 90% of my playtime on inventory management.

Stopping my ESO+ will drop my bank inventory in half. my bank is already at 330~350 with trial/dungeon set pieces, daily login rewards and the occasional master writ/crafting survey/ decon materials for character i'm leveling up. If i cancel my ESO+ my bank will be basicly useless to me.

I do my crafting writs on 15 characters, this takes loads of MATS daily. if i had to keep those mats in Inventory slots it would require me having loads of mules. Or buying my supplies as i need them. Which would mean, not doing writs anymore. or Buying the materials EVERY day that i wanna do my writs increasing the time it takes to do my writs.

In my honest opinion. You can't optimaly play ESO on a high level without ESO+ Without spending in my opinion way to much time on it.

I got a 32 hour week job and i do a study on the side. I ain't got time to manage my inventory endlessly, loging in from character to character, With ESO's loading time taking 5 mins each login.

it already takes me 1 and a half hour to do my dailies writs With ESO+ i can't imagine the hell it would be having to do it without it.

As someone who isn't going to be able to play ESO for another hour regardless of what happened with the update, I struggle to see how losing out on a Tuesday is worth freebies. Especially ones that are more valuable that some random crown store pots or maybe a research scroll.

While it obviously sucks for those who lost out on their whole day and/or login rewards because of this, unless it's a weekend, or at least a whole 24hr day, that gets smashed because of issues, I wouldn't expect any company running an online game to make up for the lost time.

We actually agreed to and pay Zos to do downtime when it is needed and today there seemed to be an issue where it was needed. So compensation does not seem appropriate.

    Do you work for them?

Of course not. If I did work for Zos I would have been fired long ago for my continuous criticism of Matt.

Again, those of us that play this game have specifically agreed to Zos being able to do unplanned maintenance when they determine it is important enough to do so. It is not like this happens daily.

BTW, I was one who suggested Zos consider compensation in the first couple months of this game's history that Zos actually did give us something. Today's event greatly pales to that experience.

    Yes it is.

    First you agreed to it.

Second, even if it was down for the whole day, that’s only a 0.27% downtime

Is it incompetence at its finest and irritating af? 100%

And everyone at ZOS should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves

Every member of the team is working from home, perhaps caring for loved ones with Covid, perhaps feeling a tad off-colour themselves, but in any event trying to do remotely what is normally done as part of a team working together. They're doing their best in difficult circumstances to keep things going, and have managed to deliver a new Chapter only a few days behind schedule. If you think they should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves because you haven't been able to play for a few hours then fine, that's your prerogative. Personally I'd be thoroughly ashamed of myself if I felt that way.

Except none of these problems are new since COVID stuff began. If they were, then yes, reasonable conclusions. But ESO has been having problems for a long time.

    Greetings all!

After some editing and removing of a few posts, we would like to remind everyone that all posts should remain civil, constructive, and within the guidelines of the rules. Bashing and Baiting are both violations of the rules we have in place and are stated as follows:
Bashing and Slanderous Comments: We do not permit the bashing of individuals (including ZeniMax employees), groups, or other companies on our forums. We believe that doing so is neither constructive nor in spirit of our game and community.
Trolling or Baiting: The act of trolling is defined as something that is created for the intent to provoke conflict, shock others, or to elicit a strong negative or emotional reaction. It’s okay and very normal to disagree with others, and even to debate, but provoking conflict, baiting, inciting, mocking, etc. is never acceptable in the official The Elder Scrolls Online community. If you do not have something constructive or meaningful to add to a discussion, we strongly recommend you refrain from posting in that thread, and find another discussion to participate in instead. It is also not constructive or helpful to publicly call out others and accuse them of trolling, or call them a troll—please refrain from doing so. If you genuinely believe someone is trolling, please report the post or thread to the ESO Team, and leave it at that.
If there may be any questions in regards to the rules, please feel free to review them here.

    Thank you for your understanding,
