None of the patches I recall would make everyone happy, so I'd merely be picking whichever one I enjoyed the most because my characters were doing fine.

Though if there were a patch where performance would be decent in the current environment, that might be worth it.

The poll is meant to be subjective so it’s all right pick whichever patch you enjoyed the most.

I don't recall which is which so I can't vote... But I'd go back to a time where the combat team lead was NOT the former PvP team lead. Back when not everything in the game was balanced for PvP even though it's a very minor part of the game. Back when Bosmers had stealth, at the very least.

I enjoyed when there were leveled zones and the prologue was coldharbour. It felt right somehow.
Being able to reach riften and finally kill those sabrecats that murdered me when I was low level felt good.

Unpopular opinion, but yeah bring back Eric Wrobel.

There's stuff I enjoy about several of the patches.
I'd want to keep my warden and necromancer.
I loved the increased Cyrodiil defense ticks and higher siege damage during Summerset. And Jewelrycrafting.

Can I just pick and choose?
It'd be fun to go back through patches and selectively revive dead playstyles like the Nightblade Sap Tank or dead sets like Tava's Favor.

Wrathstone, easily. Last patch the game was actually enjoyable for me and not a rollercoaster with meaningless changes, performance was top notch also compared to what we have now.

Can only select one option and I didn’t want to include all patches either to make to poll to big I’m just curious how does the community feel about the changes in the game going forward are we happier as the time goes or is everyone more sentimental towards the old updates and less about the new ones.

Actually, the combat team brought us so many 'wtf?' moments that I don't exactly remember which patch had the least disadvantages.

Yes the game wasn’t as balanced back then as it is now but the game worked and you could actually play during prime time.

Imo unbalanced but playable is far superior than balanaced but unplayable.

There are some good and some bad changes every main patch, but for me the best basis for balance was at the time of soft caps.
The Three Storm Sharks, episode 8 released on january the 8th.
One mer to rule them all,
    one mer to find them,
One mer to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them.

Wrathstone was missing, so voted to closest one. ^

But, I would also address Wood Elf & Argonian feedback in that patch. There, no further changes needed.

While I enjoy mythical creatures as much as the next fantasy fan, the mythical creature that is "game balance" has simply never been a concern of mine with this title. That's not to say there aren't a few issues, but it's nothing that has any significant impact on my enjoyment of the game. Or more precisely, the issues relating to game mechanics that impact my enjoyment of the game aren't really about the mythical "game balance" idea. In seriousness, what does this "game balance" even mean, folks? It's a pretty vague term and it seems to me it means ten different things to five different people.

as a console player, id go back to before test dummies when the only solid dps test was bloodspawn in spindleclutch 2. You'd have to time yourself while a tank taunted the boss away from you. I loved it.

I didn't vote in the Poll because I'm not sure when combat tuning was the "best" in terms of a well defined era, as I paid less attention to those things when I started playing, but I can definitely say that the combat system has easily become one of my least favorite parts about ESO over the 3-4 years I have played ESO. I already played one game (Destiny) that was NOT a game well suited for competitive PVP but which the devs tried to tune it to become one and it ruined the fun of the game, and I can kind of see ESO migrating in that direction too, although currently to a much lesser degree.

The overtuning of the game to placate PVP players when this game is not a competitive PVP type of game in the mold of a competitive tactical shooter/arena shooter is not, IMO, healthy for the game when both modes share the same sandbox. ESO has battle spirit to try to create some deviation between the two, but I don't think that goes far enough, and a symptom of that is when things get nerfed in PVE for the sake of PVP.

On the PVE side of it, when the difference between doing "good" DPS and DPS that is acceptable to get you into high-end dungeon/trial groups is the ability to execute animation cancelling on a platform (console) where bar flopping is unreliable at best is also frustrating. IMO, they need to get rid of animation cancelling in put everyone's combat performance to the same level and then allow build strength and ability to negotiate mechanics to be the two factors that separate the average players from the elite. BTW, this would make it easier for the devs to tune high-end content, as DPS checks won't have such a high ceiling to create a challenge for the players that can do animation cancelling vs. those who struggle with it.

You left out the patch many long term players would have chosen since you did not include half of the games life.
