I really love this game, but the toxicity is just what ruins it for me. Especially in pvp!
Could ZOS implement a setting so you couldn't recive whispers from an enemy alliance?
I know i should just suck it up, but i don't feel like i should have to be mocked and degraded just to play a game. For many people this is an escape from the real world, you know? atleast it is for me.
I know you can report another player, but when should you?
Only one, and that is illegal in just about every part of the world...Is there a way to reduce player toxicity?
They could, but... since most people wouldn't use it and it would take them paid programmer time to add, its not very likely to happen...Could ZOS implement a setting so you couldn't recive whispers from an enemy alliance?
Simply put, when they take a huge step out of the grey area and not just flirt with the limit of the code of conduct or ToS, but shatter it to pieces. Then you bloody well ought to report the [censored to follow forum rules]! Report 'em and let ZOS sort them out! The server logs record everything, they just need a little help knowing where they need to look...I know you can report another player, but when should you?

Hmm, it seems like your answer didn't really address the question. So, what you're saying is that if you can't send hate whispers to the opposing factions, your PvP experience is ruined? That is, after all, the context that you initially replied to.
I literally pvp to gather hate tells, it means youre doing good.
Then I've done really good at fishing and getting instantly killed by people running up on me. Because I've gotten hate whispers from people who just killed me, telling me how much I suck that I didn't even get a hit back in before they mowed me down while I sat there with a fishing rod in my hand.
I don't think there's a way to reduce toxicity in a game that has PvP and no enforcement of any sort of code of conduct. If reporting actually did anything things might be different, but as long as the devs think it does something without actually looking into seeing if anything is being done, we're pretty much boned.

A. Don't report. Just ignore them, either mentally or on your actual Ignore list.
B. Report them when you feel like it. Very cathartic. Best accompanied by screenshots of the offending message.
C. Report them when they break the TOS or Code of Conduct. Also best accompanied by screenshots.

I lean towards C myself.

Sometimes I am using all the possible cheese in PVP (zaan, mist, unstoppable brute, brp dw)... My characters have offending looks (sometimes I play without legs armor piece and t-bag people)... And I rarely receive any hate whispers, with exception of some smallscales when they can't catch mewell, i am t-bagged pretty often, but that's not a whisper.
When I started ESO I pugged vDLC dungeons and even normal trials as lowCP (300-500) bosmer tank in random sets (for example I used infernal maw for a long time and loved that Daedroth "tanks" there with me) and nobody kicked me or asked what sets I am running.. of course sometimes I was unable to deal with boss (for example vSCP trolls were brutal when I was CP350), then I simply apologized and left group myself to switch to more tanky build and return later.
So I'm curious how you manage to attract so much whispers and what can I do to achieve that? ><
Here I’m one of the small scale guys that chase you down and tbag you if I see a stamplar with mistform I think of krostofer eso and he triggers me so u triggered a vendetta...MartiniDaniels wrote: »Is there a way to increase toxicity?

Seriously, I don't know where players manage to find so many toxic people in dungeons... from my experience it's maybe 1 run from 20 when somebody will be notably toxic and he is usually fake healer.
I remember my pug times... I was running crazy builds and doing crazy things (while still working for group result ofc) and nobody objected that I'm not using ebon+torug's or whatever. My favorite build was tava+nocturnal's favor with 3k stam regen and passive dodge + bombard spamming instead of claws, leash instead of chains and roll-dodging heavy attacks instead of blocking and nobody was kicking me, actually I got friends from those runs and invitations to my first guilds.
So when somebody tells he was kicked instantly because somebody saw his gear, it feels like whole story is not told.

This only works until you hit the 100 player limit on your Ignore list. Because like everything else in this game, the Ignore list has an inexplicable and arbitrary limitation on it.
