Immediately crash to "Crash Report" screen when I hit play from launcher

sk0ht

====================================================================

Hit "play" and the screen goes black then this crash report pops up.

Any insight would be appreciated - I've tried running as administrator, compatibility mode, and editing the text file in /users (it wasn't there)

Would love some feedback.

eso has stopped working.

I couldn't even get in to skip the intro. As soon as I hit "Play" the screen goes black and I get a crash report.

I've seen some other people with the same problem but no real fix yet. Anyone have an update?

No updates that I've seen. I have the same problem. I submitted a ticket about it yesterday but no response on that either.

I'm going to call them today, getting frustrated waiting for ticket responses...I'll let you know if I hear anything

Same problem here. I've clicked play then it has gone past all the brightness and code of conduct information, then as soon as I am able to login the system crashed and I receive the same report as all of you.

Same issue. Tried re-installing and worked fine until I logged off and tried logging in the next day.

Anyone have new info for this? Support hasn't been able to give me anything worthwhile to fix it.

The only thing that seems to work is doing a clean install and I can log in once. The second load up of the game causes it to pop this error up without even logging into the game again.

I don't feel the need to spend hours reinstalling the game every day to play. If something isn't solved in a reasonable time frame then hopefully I can get a refund. Especially since I should be able to play on at least High settings.

Still nothing and getting the run-around from phone support. They blamed it on my video card but when I switched to a higher powered model I got the same thing.

I'll post here if anything I find works - I can't even get one play out of it on a fresh install.

Are any of you guys playing on a laptop? I'm trying it on my core i5 laptop and just wondering if that's the problem.

Nope. Desktop here. Wondering if it could be an issue with windows 8

Decided to do some more searching online and found this stuff.

#8 The Elder Scrolls Online Crashes During the Cinematic
In order to avoid the crash during cinematic, you need to change the compatibility mode of the game’s “.exe” file. It’s not the launcher file we are talking about here but the game’s original file.

You need to right-click the “.exe” file and then select properties. Here choose the compatibility tab and then choose the game to run as “Windows XP SP3″. Run the game as administrator to resolve the issue.

This seems to have fixed the issue for me. I've been sitting at the log-in screen for several minutes without having the error report message come up. I'm hesitant to initiate my subscription but I guess I will give it a shot and let you know what happens.

Have you tried running the game straight from the game folder? If your game is patched up to date, current version showing on my log-in page is 1.0.0.969973 it shouldn't cause any issues, obviously you would still need to run the launcher to receive any updates. When I have had issues this has worked as a temporary way to get into the game. I just right click on the ESO application file and the game bypasses the launcher. :)
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

I've been playing since my post with no issue. Make sure you're doing it on the actual game exe, not the client loader exe

Has anyone solved problem yet? I tried what Frank said, I have tried reinstall and repair and like 100 other things and still not working. Just hate to pay and not been allowed to play whole game..

My game was working PERFECT until Tonight (Friday). I played Wednesday night for a while, no issues. Due to work didnt play last night. I try to login tonight, and game crashes from the Launcher.

Found this post and I have done exactly as others have suggested - attempted to launch directly from game folder off the main .exe (not the launcher exe). Attempted to reinstall. Repair. Nothings going.

Just gives the error below every time.

Zenimax, I give you 24 hours to resolve. Seems like some of these folks have had this issue a LONG time and that is just ludicrous. My guess would be latest patch has broken it for me.

Same here, played for hours this morning, Now either crash at char screen or about every 4th time, I get in-game for 30 sec. I'm either getting the submit crash box, freeze, or the display driver crash I used to get before updating Nvidea drivers.

Edit: The below "solution" just seems to have been a coincidence. Issue returned. Now I'm looking into opencl.dll being corrupted.

Since I've found multiple threads on this issue, I'm going to cross post a bit, just in case this solution also works for others...

I suddenly ran into this (or very similar problem on my Win10x64). Pressing "Launch" the eso.exe simply freezes when it should start showing the developer logos/intros. Finally decided to troubleshoot a bit, and found the following entries in my eventlogs, at the time of pressing "Launch".
    In Application log:
Activation of app 436337Illusions.com.MediaBrowser_77hd5e1v1hqs4!App failed with error: No applicable app licenses found. See the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for additional information.

    In System log:
Unable to start a DCOM Server: App.AppXhyg4cy62s7gghctkf48aq5csrzdn44mk.mca as Unavailable/Unavailable. The error:
    "3236560897"
    Happened while starting this command:
    "C:\WINDOWS\system32\backgroundTaskHost.exe" -ServerName:App.AppX9c2je2s29fsgzvc6339srtj1ypxtqfe5.mca

I then went on to uninstall the Emby (formly known as MediaBrowser) app, and then tried again, and it no longer failed. I haven't not done any thorough testing, so the issue could come back, however, previously only a restart would fix the issue (most of the times). This time the issue was fixed right after removing Emby.

My hypothesis is that eso.exe was trying to use the app to playback the intro video, and the app then failed.

I read a comment from another poster (can't remember which post), where they mentioned their Logitech keyboard being the cause. I believe I can confirm this. Issue was there using my Loitech G110 keyboard, but disappeared the moment I connected my Microsoft ergonomic (not good for gaming) keyboard.

Tried installing an older version of the Logitech Gaming Peripheral software (some people on Logitech forums mentioned that they resolved it that way, but this didn't resolve it for me. Now using a Corsair keyboard and haven't experienced the issues since.
