As someone who has not yet managed to complete vMA nor vDSA, I appreciate that I will finally have a much better chance to get the new weapons from nMA/nDSA. (I've been playing for three years, but I play for fun, and I really hate vMA.)

So from the point of view of someone who hasn't spent lots of hours grinding for those, I would like to add my 2 cents, that I feel this isn't fair to those who have. Please convert their weapons for them. They worked very hard for what they earned, and deserve Perfected. They shouldn't have to do it all over again.

If I ever want those badly enough, I will have to put in the time and effort just as they did. Maybe someday I will. I'll probably be very happy with the new, lesser ones.

    Thank you for listening.

ZOS, can we get a basic reason for this decision?

Not sure we've had an official statement, but it lines up with how they've been handing out the ability altering weapons since Asylum. There's a normal version that's easy to obtain, and a perfected version which is obtained through much harder content.

The only surprising thing is that it took them this long to go back and modify the Master and Maelstrom weapons.

I think the surprising thing is that for the first time in the history of ESO, a gear item was changed and that change was not retroactively applied. They've actually previously changed THESE EXACT ITEMS and retroactively applied the changes. But not this time.

Jewelry decon was not applied retroactively. Level capped gear was not upgraded when the cap increased from V10 to V12 to V14 to V16. The only change there was when V16 became CP160. There are still heavy pieces of Night Mother's Embrace in the wild, though they're very rare.

So, no, this kind of thing has happened before. When it comes to changing sets, ZOS has been a little more inconsistent. Some sets have been updated in the past while others have not. Generally speaking, when an existing set is changed, that gets updated. When a drop table is changed with new sets on it, that is not updated.

I was about to type something similar to this but also add that it is really nasty business to implement this change, it's just a slap in the face to every single person who busted their you know what's to get through VMA. It's concerning to me as I'm not 100% sure I want to continue giving my money to a business that thinks that little of their customers. I'm very surprised this was done as you know there had to be meetings at ZoS about whether to do this or not.

Like other people have said, it seems that the leads are interested in attracting new players, forsaking the veterans which are harder to please. The game is a golden goose.

That just seems like it because ppl like to play the victim card. What realy happens here is that they apply the same rule set to all weapon sets. If you look at the current state, every weapon set has its own set of rules on how they where created/stats/ways to get them. This patch just changes this by applying the same rule level to everything.

The ultimate goal looks like they want to narrow down the huge gap in dps a bit and create more sidegrades. Now that doesnt mean that everything is fine first try. But it means that they lay the foundation to get it done in a long run. This greatly benefits the game as it makes content creation and balancing easier in a long run and also makes it easer to create challenging content that more players can do because more players end up on the same level.

The real problem while doing it are "veterans" because some ppl think that they have a special role because they play the game so long, or have achievments etc. If you look at the changes or at proposed changes (like the light/heavy test) you can see that veterans are the ones that are most active here, but that they are also the ones that try to shut down certain changes completely. But thats not how it works. We are not in WoW, or a similar game, where all gear gets constantly nullified and players get back together and content has a strict way of being done. ESO has persistant stuff, which means that balance is much more important, even if that means that something has to be nerfed after years. The alternative to this would be way less hard content, because lets face it, there is no reason to spend money on creating something that only a small subset of the community can even play in the first place.

Much ado about pretty much nothing. Attaching a meaningless stat and the word "Perfected" does not make them worth the grind.

I already farmed for the veteran rewards of vDSA and vMSA. It took years of my life.
Now I have the normal reward.

    That is illogical.

I paid for the Iphone 8. After an update, at the store, they hand me 7. But...I already worked hard and paid for the 8.

That's pretty much exactly what Apple does. When the update hits, it's optimized for the new hardware, and your older phone starts to suffer, pushing you, none too gently, towards the next iteration.

At least with ESO, it's not going to cost you anything you weren't already spending, and you already know how to clear that content, so rerunning it will be less painful than it would for someone just starting out.

    Greetings all,

After review, we have decided it best to close this thread as it has been deemed a Goodbye/Quitting thread. Goodbye/Quitting threads are a violation of our rules and stated as follows:
Goodbye/Quitting Threads: We understand that sometimes people will leave the ESO community, and want to post a “goodbye” or “quitting” thread. Generally, we have found that “goodbye” and “quitting” threads have a tendency to go downhill fast. It is our policy to read the feedback in “goodbye” and “quitting” threads and close them, regardless of whether they are constructive or not.
If there may be any questions in regards to the rules, please feel free to review them here.

    Thank you for your understanding,
