    Eh.
At the very least there ought to be an option to pick where to start.

Personally I'd even have preferred it if they done things differently from the start, and made coldharbour the ONLY tutorial, then at the end of that... add an option as to where you want to drop out of the "escape vortex" - either at the mainstory starter isles, or skip ahead to some expansion...
...and then have all the "new tutorials" as "expansion intro" for -everyone- no matter if they are fresh out of the coldharbour tutorial, or been playing through everything for years.

    Alas. Paths not taken.

    Absolutely this. 100%

letting the player choose is always the better way than to force him/her to something (in cases like this where it doesnt matter at all).

Also replayable is a great idea! I'm missing that skillpoint on my main which annoys me from time to time. Its 1 of 3 which hold me back from completion forever
(i chose to save the [Snip] at the mage guilde final, never saved anyone after that -> if there is a option: always kill, destroy, torture)

Another idea I wish they might perhaps consider - they could give us a "cadwells" for tutorials! Just add a little quest to the cadwell in the prophets refugee allowing us to "experience the tutorials", so at the very least even those not into altings or all alted our already can always take a peek at any new tutorial as it gets released...

I always wondered why can't you experience a tutorial quest naturally by going to DLC land via boat/caravan the first time. Because that's exactly what happening with new player, right? They get to Firemoth island/mind trap from a shipwreck or temple in Elsweyr/whatever in Skyrim from a caravan disaster. This would be the most immersive way, and if you don't want it - just port via wayshrine.

I'd always start new players first in Coldharbour and give options to pick with alts. Because I was the person who like to do everything by order to make sense and I needed to guess "wait, something's wrong" in Vvardenfell, go to forums and stumble upon that one awesome thread about the right order of story and DLC. Then drop current quests (screw you Vivec, you can wait! lol), port via shrine (how? I still had a soul!) to starter city and pretend my char saw some places before stumbling upon hooded figure (which is nice btw for RP... But not when you're completely new to the game). Kinda lame.
