Thews of the Harbinger

100p.weasel_ESO
How exactly does this set work? If I get Jabbed by a templar, and I have 50k HP, each time someone light attacks me, I'm going to be putting out 3k physical damage to them as long as i have the stamina to block it? Is the damage mitigated?

It's a terrible set. The damage tooltip you see is before anything mitigates it, so reduce it by half for battle spirit, then reduce it further by about a third for opponent armor, then reduce it by another third for opponent armor buffs, and if you really want to be depressed then reduce it in half 1 more time for people blocking.

If someone is managing to hit you so much that it does noticeable damage to them, you're already dead. Passive Health Recovery on non-vampires is higher than the damage Harbinger provides.

And how would an opponent proc Harbinger if they're blocking? By wearing Harbinger? This infinite Harbinger loop sounds anything but depressing to me

Actually Harbinger is the biggest counter to the Draugrkin stamsorcs that have been popping up in BGs lately.

They have so many different sources of dmg ticking on you that they will just erase themselves in a couple of GCDs XD.

Yeah that's basically how it works OP. I have a friend who uses this on his Necro, he pops Goliath ult and holds block and he dishes insane damage. You can't totally avoid hitting him either haha he stands right in the fray

Harbinger is a fun set, but most players notice that every time they hit you, they are taking damage, so they stop hitting you.
I liked to pair it with Selenes (because it procs Selenes) and Blazing Shield so people end up killing themselves. Though I stopped running that setup when ZOS nerfed the max health builds to the ground. I used to have 68k health! But no minor toughness on Warhorn anymore and the Plague Doctor nerfs...
It's probably still a very fun set on a Necromancer Emperor :D

It will be decent set to pair with Vampire tanks, since you will benefit from the 10k health and the lifesteal works with Harbi as well

It does decent damage, but you will die if you hold block and the opponent keeps vigor up 24/7. It's fun to catch people off guard with it tho.

    Block-casting is still a thing.

Harbinger procs off direct damage attacks, so if the Draugrkin buff applied from DoTs is considered a direct attack alongside actual direct attacks, it's probably a bug in the same vein as Twisting/(Old)Refreshing Path proccing the buff from Scathing Mage a few years back.

That's true, you could also proc it against you while blocking with various thorns abilities.

The set isn't designed to be strong 1v1, it scales up in effectiveness with the number of opponents hitting you.

I think the guys point about Draugrkin Sorcs was just that it's an effective counter against a bunch of Sorcs at once, not anything about Draugrkin 5 piece in particular (other than that it only procs off direct damage). Note they removed the "direct damage" part of Harbinger's 5 piece, but you can only block direct damage to begin with, no? I'm surprised to hear StamSorcs are running Draugrkin however.

Didn't know they changed the proc condition of it. I just got rid of all mine a few days ago while purging my bank cause last time I used it in BGs I felt embarrassed by how little it was accomplishing in a small scale scenario.

Yeah they fixed it so it scales off Max Health, rather than current, and upped it 1%. Clearly strong with Bone Goliath. I've only messed with it a little bit so far but managed to hit ~300k damage in a BG without doing anything but blocking.

Note I hit 300k with 64 points into health, so you know, kind of just a test rather than anything really practical in BGs.

    2 shields, in fact >.>

To give you a sense of how little in demand it was, I was able to buy a full set with 2 infused weapons, 2 sturdy shields, and 3 sturdy body pieces for under 10k.
