And it clearly needs aoe. Templars have aoe, sorcs should have more aoe than templars and better burst since sorcs are clearly supposed to be the best and only class worth playing. If I cant instakill a stacked team/zerg with it what's the point? To all the brave souls trying to reason with OP: don't bother.
ZOS could give Sorcerers an ultimate called HEAVY ATTAC ZONE that cost 500 ultimate and caused you to do a lightning staff heavy attack that instantly one shot disintegrated every mob, boss, and player in whatever zone you're in. phoenixkungfu would complain that it costs too much.

I DEMAND this ability be added with AOE in order to pursue a more PERFECT balance.
Implosion works with ANY shock damage
i.e.and ANY physical damage
- lighting staff light attack
- lighting staff heavy attack
- Any weapon with a shock damage glyph
- overload
- mages fury
- lighting form
- lighting splash
- streak
- auroran's thunder
- mad tinkerer
- overwhelming surge
- storm master
- storm knight's plate
- thunderbug's carapace
- Stormfist
i.e.And that's not even mentioning the physical damage sets that could proc the damn thing.
- Unarmed light/heavy
- Bow light/heavy
- two handed light/heavy
- shield and one handed light/heavy
- single blade light/heavy
- Hurricane
- Bound Armaments
- Berserk strike
- uppercut
- critical charge
- cleave
- reverse slash
- Rapid fire
- snipe
- volley
- scatter shot
- arrow spray
- Puncture
- Low slash
- Shield charge
- Power bash
- Lacerate
- Flurry
- Twin slashs
- whirlwind
- blade cloak
- Hidden blade
- Bashing
- Caltrops
- Silver Bolts
- Dawnbreaker
- Werewolf..everything
By comparison burning light can be set off by
- Radial sweep
- Puncturing strikes
- Piercing javelin
- Focused charge
- Spear shards
- Sunsheild
so given that implosion allows for a MUCH greater level of versatility I don't really see any reason to tweak or nerf it, as for burning light, maybe a 5-10% damage decrease due to it hitting stupid hard at times.

Yeah against potatoes, now try fight some players that know how to play their class.

I played a lot of StamSorc in PvP at the time, and let me tell you, killing someone with Implosion felt like I got carried by RNG. Same when I got killed with Mage's Wrath + Implosion. Just not a fun mechanic at all. I'd rather have consistent damage output (Burning Light or Amplitude) than that.

TBH I didn't even read the OP but I have to a different view on what you're writing.
RNG is by all means deeply engraved into almost every RPG. Dice rolls, hit chances, etc. In ESO you've got % on crit chance and proc sets. A lucky streak of crits in your burst combo doesn't make you feel carried. That's why the RNG argument doesn't really cut it for me.
People will always complain about what's on their recap. It didn't help that Implosion was marked as killing blow when it was in truth Fury that dropped your health to zero.
It was unique and added a much needed synergy between class skills and passives, especially for Stam Sorcs. Hurricane, Implosion, Surge.
Well, now that's gone. And it won't come back, so no reason to cry about Burning Light.

Double Standard
dou·ble stand·ard
/ˈdəbəl ˈstandərd/
noun
a rule or principle which is unfairly applied in different ways to different people or groups.
Having been given adequate explanation about what Implosion was and how it was replaced with Amplitude, and your inability to explain or argue your stance in any way, shape or form, I don't think you can slap terminology around that further suppresses your point.

AMPLITUDE is the worst NERF IN THE HISTORY OF THIS GAME. It Parades as a buff.. but it KILLS sorcerer identity by always nerfing down the damage you do with class skills. SORCERER CLASS ABILITIES ARE NOT INCREASE BY AMPLITUDE. Look at the tooltip and side by side compare it to other (NON CLASS) abilities. THE MATH IS OFF OR ITS JUST NERFING DAMAGE AS INTENDED OF CLASS ABILITIES.
AMPLITUDE ONLY EFFECTIVE increase in damage is to promote using other (non class) Ultimates and abilities.
IMPLOSION was a unique sorcerer passive that is identical to BURNING LIGHT. R&G based gameplay but it did promote using sorcerer skills. Just like templar jabs do...WHEN THE LAST TIME YOU SEEN A TEMPLAR USING D SWING.
WE ALL KNOW D SWING IS OVERPOWERED and templar are not using it.
This gameplay is extremely wrong and a DOUBLE STANDARD.
I DEMAND templar lose burning light or IMPLOSION is restored to sorcerer.
And a standard is held to promote fair gameplay across the BOARD
Sure remove burning light, I'll take an instant teleport that does high damage and also is an unblockable/undodgeable stun.
Or the myraid of free meatshield pets, one of which heals for more than the games original healing class' main burst heal(and 2 targets).
Balance doesn't mean same.
Burning light is there specifically to synergise with aedric spear.
I'll be honest I'm getting tired of all these new players that don't know how to counter jabs coming to these forums crying.

My stam sorc will swap his spammable for jabs and bound armaments for PoTL. Deal?

Yeah stamplars with onslaught have a crazy powerful and EZ burst. Is that the stamplar or onslaught though?

Surely that's the point OP is missing here. There are strengths and weaknesses to each class. Good players work to those, bad players cry about them on the forums.

90% of so called good players are just getting the benefit of DOUBLE STANDARD
DOUBLE STANDARDS GOES FAR BEYOND JUST THIS TOPIC
Part 2
Double standards of max magic defense vs max spell/weapon damage.
