For those who have been banned and not charged for thier subscriptions yet

Many of us have pre authorized a payment for a 6 month subscription and have since been banned - my wife for example.

I suggest that while we are waiting/hoping that the suspensions/bans will be reversed on our appeals, that we should contact our CC/Banks and stop payment to ZOS.

Since they have refused to tell us why we (my wife in this case) is not allowed to play the game we are going to possibly be billed for, I think the bank would have no problem in stopping payment.

Note that they have also refused us access to our accounts, so we can not even adjust the subscript to one month to see if they can get this straightened out.

I want to cancel my subscription. I really do. But trying patience might pay off. 16 hour without an email. I have never joined a guild. Never traded anyone. I don't chat. I'm VR 3 without ever grouping up. Game is easy. But frustrating.

I hope you get things fixed. Not fun being banned and your significant other isn't. Good luck.

Sadly one cannot cancel the subscription while your forum account is banned too and you cannot change even enter your account page to revoke the abo - which is the case for my friend. I call this a major violation of customer right laws, which is why I wonder if they even have a lawyer making sure that things are in order...

In regards to "your significiant other" - nice term that! -, I found that many couples are playing together ONLY and thus whatever compensation is planned should go to both.

Yeah, I say you probably should contact the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission's Consumer Protection Bureau to find out more information regarding your consumer rights and possibly file a complaint, because you simply cannot just call your bank and stop the payment because it's already been authorized unless you claim Fraud or Theft and have your bank investigate it. But since Bethesda/Zenimax claims you have violated the Terms of Service Agreement by cheating/hacking/exploiting there probably isn't much your Bank will do but investigate whether Bethesda and Zenimax are a credible company which they are.

That'd be common sense, but then I would want to verify that and also remove all my personal data - which includes a customer's right to permanently delete even the slightest trace of personal data they ever received from me (according to our laws here which they must abide if they sell in our country).

Your approach does seem silly though as long as ZOS doesn't know to differ between game and forum bans properly. Since my friend has no forum access right now but can play - how'd the cancelling be applied on such, now that he is only "partially banned" ?

Not that my friend was rightfully banned first-off anyways, but especially considering the many other flaws I start having doubts about overly much common sense at ZOS and fear the future after the recent mess-ups.

This raises an interesting point. Can a staff confirm what happens to subcriptions in this case? I mean, surely, you can not expect people on recurring subs to pay ad vitam eternam, or pay for time they could not possibly enjoy?

I also believe that in most european countries, they actually do not have the right to stop you from accessing your personal data (ie: subcription plan for example).

The way I interpret that is that they can stop you from accessing the game,but I highly doubt it is legal to stop people accessing their own profiles on the forum and the sub page. Could someone with a deeper legal expertise confirm this to appease the mind of the people that have been banned?

1) The authorization hold was just that, an authorization hold. You are not charged for any subscription time until your free time actually runs out
2) If the account is banned, they aren't going to charge it for a subscription (assuming it isn't unbanned of course)

Use a little common sense.

I'm using my common sense, but mankind in general does not

. I'm using paypal for payment, so I can first deal with a possible issue thru paypal, while also cancelling the paypal authorisation on my bank, since there's a few days up to a week delay between the time a transaction happens on paypal, and the time they send it to the bank

It can and does happen. Considering the very murky water we're dabbling in, legal and whatnot, and some of the decision that has been made by Zeni, I think it is only normal to want to check, and have an official statement on this question

While I enjoy the game so far, the mutliple ban mistakes alledgly made, the lack of security from the client to the server, and some other decisions I'll not talk about on the forums (no I was not banned

), I'd just like my mind to be put to rest. I select a 3 months recurring plan myself, and If I end up in the next batch of banned account, this might end up being right next at the end of the "free" 30 days. So I am using common sense, and checking if I will not be billed a non negligeable amount of cash, if another batch of erronous bans happen

In my view, common sense would have led to not post the above:

Using common sense would result in noticing that nothing is free here, especially the first 30 days which you payed for as part of the game purchase. As per such, a financial loss is obvious and to be replaced if they unrightfully banned you for a while.
A related valid question here is, if the gametime gets deducted during ban time or not. Without insight into this, we can only assume that it will and thuse demand replacement.

I wish it was so, but putting up your guesswork as facts doesn't follow common sense either. Unless there's official information from ZOS about this we have no evidence that billing wouldn't continue.

And lastly, you totally ignore the fact that personal data - especially the financial data - may not be blocked from customer access for editing ever. As in, maybe you don't mind a game company keeping your credit card number in their systems (which is likely to get compromised anyways), but not everyone is as careless.
