Agree or not, the developers are convinced that one of the things holding back new players is the combat system which is why they are trying to make it easier to do reasonable DPS. Bash weaving and Light attack weaving/animation cancelling are the 2 primary culprits to DPS issues for new players and neither mechanic is reinforced or explained well throughout typical play. Players are just expected to 'know' how to do it. It's unintuitive and inconsistent.

I'm definitely on board for changes to both mechanics so long as overall DPS doesn't suffer and content can continue to be completed. I'd much rather see them remove these mechanics completely and up spammable DPS. The only concern I have is if they have the ability to do it correctly.
