The new trial sets are extremely lackluster

Right now Roaring Opportunist is the only new set raid groups will bother running. And even then, the way the set cooldown works it can only be used by one person in a 12 player group. With everyone funneling gear to one player the trial can be farmed out in a couple of runs.

Kyne's Wind seems ok for sustain but there are better options.
Yandir's Might could be decent in pvp but has less average damage than Hunding's Rage in pve.
The tank set was already terrible before today's nerf.

SunSpire had three fantastic sets and all mag and stam dds needed a set of their own to wear. This lead to tons of open and gear farming runs for several weeks after release. Raiders have been waiting a year already for something new to do. Please consider reworking these sets so that we have a carrot to chase and a reason to run the new trial other than a clear.

True.

But this is what happens when your dev team literally doesn't know how to play the game. Which is evident by watching them stream the new dungeons, struggling on normal, against mechanics they themselves designed. Not bashing, just stating facts.

I’m not even sure RO will get much use after the changes in 6.0.1. It’s probably going to be a key part of the top 2-3 groups trying to push scores, but I don’t really see most groups bothering with the weird proc conditions and RNG uptimes. Definitely disappointing, after a full year waiting for new end game content we get 3-4 decon sets.

Reason being new players make them more money and complain less than older players. Everything is new and shiny to them so they tend to tolerate the lag better and are more willing to use the crown creates to play catch up or get the new shiny mounts. Older players are tired of update after update with no lag fixes and tired of being shoveled half baked new expansions and wild swings of the nerf hammer.

Look at the expansions now. They are more geared towards hooking new players then keeping the ones who's been here for years. They keep dumbing down and standardizing combat so the new guys can compete with the veterans because heaven forbid they get wreaked in PvP or out DPSed in dungeons and trails.

I love this series but I can tell this game time is coming. I've seen it in other games. Give it time....it will be a cash shop stimulator built solely to attract new players and the vets will be pushed towards another game.

Don't tell them that, given the pattern of the last few patches all other Trial sets will get a nerf to make it look more appealing. Say goodbye to VO and PFG!

I don't agree that new players make them more money.. at least not in the long run. I understand that may be the companies view, but long term customers are loyal, they drive sales, they pull in new players by suggesting the game, streaming it, talking about it, spending more money over time instead of in bulk.

Personally, I've played for 5 years, I buy at least 6-9 months of ESO plus every year at 1 month a pop when I feel like playing where I use to just outright buy the full 12 months in 2018 and earlier. I stopped because I've lost interest over time and the performace issues have not helped. I buy crowns (on sale). I buy the chapter upgrades every year at the initial price (55$). In the first year of crown crates I bought more than I care to admit, but by their own mistake with free crates I earned anough gems to just buy what I want for the future. All in all, I probably spend 150-300$ on this game a year.. for years.. Thats what happens when you invest in long term customers instead of new players.

A new player with no investment in the property may spend 80 bucks up front to get all the previous chapters or like 10-20 bucks if the game is on sale. Maybe 1 month of eso plus if they're interested, but how many of these people will actually stick around for the long haul. It's even worse for them when they get to the CP grind and start to realize how older players are dropping out like flies and complaining about the game in zone chat.

It's just a bad business practice for a quick buck and only serves to make investors happy.

I feel this is an unfair characterization that comes up quite a bit; not only did it take 6 years for an expansion in Skyrim (They could have done that much earlier if it was just about cashing in on Skyrims name) but they are also going out of their way to tell a different story in a different environment than Skyrim...

TESV: Skyrim had a big dlc called Dawnguard which was focused around Vampires and we got the Vampire Lord.

ESO is getting a Skyrim chapter which is also focused on Vampires and we get a Vampire Lord. Same for the DLC in Q4 2020. ZOS uses nostalgic locations for entire Chapters. It’s not bad to go back to Skyrim.... tbh it’s a good thing if it’s well done.

There is a lot of resentment toward Greymoor because it’s not well done - performance and game balance are a mess and then there’s the issue of a lack of content for anyone but casual questers. This is the first chapter with no new class or combat system yet still the same price as Morrowind. And did I mention perfomance? And game balance? And performance??.... Most people don’t care about new questing content (90% of the chapter) when gameplay is more broken than ever.

For Pve they are all terrible and I was excited for the trial but if these sets are what you get rewarded with, I do not I will bother actually.

Yandir's Might feels more like a PvP set. With that and Fury you can reach around 8k weapon damage, or go with the 500 recovery if you need that instead. I can see a bunch of PvPers farming trials once Greymoor hits if that set remains unchanged.
The other trial sets seemed to look very generic and quite unappealing. It's like they were tired after putting thought into Yandir and figured they'd just throw basic slayer and aegis buffs on the other sets then call it a day.

I'm not usually one to call for nerfs to sets (and I'm still not!) but it just seems weird that you can run around with the Yandir's recovery buff up indefinitely after building up the stacks. Like, it seems as if there ought to be a duration imposed on that as there is for basically every other "stack" in the game.

But I don't know. If it isn't actually a problem then there isn't really a reason to do anything about it, and certainly no reason to nerf it simply because it does not conform to an old design pattern.

That said though, I did see someone suggest to reverse the Yandir's bonuses (e.g. build initial stacks of weapon damage, use Heavy Attack when you need sustain) and that seems far more intuitive to me. You get the damage up front and get the additional sustain if and when you need it. That would seem to fit the cadence of PvE combat much better than the current configuration.

On the other hand, having a PvP set come out of a trial would indeed be interesting, though now that it's been so heavily nerfed I'm not sure what the appetite is to run it actually is anymore.
