PC EU since "futur hardware upgrade maintenance" - getting disconnected + crashes

Hi,

Dunno if ZoS is aware of this but since the server "future upgrade" maintenance, we're getting random crashes randomly (without doing anything, just staying in any town without moving) and get disconnected ot login while zoning, exactly like on the PTS. It wasn't happening before the server downtime.

It's happening more and more this afternoon.

Is there any investigation going on ?

Which hardware upgrade? Dont get me wrong...last maintenance was just a "preparation" for the upcoming hardware upgrade? correct me if im wrong

Who is "we" and where are you logging into?

I've logged into Vulkhel Guard, done some crafting research and mount training then zoned to Glenumbra without any problems. That's from the UK, where are you playing from?

We only know that preparatory work was done to the server in anticipation of additional players, we don't know whether it was hardware or software based, or both.

There are at least 4 people with similar issues in my guild, me including. Similar, but maybe unrelated, so I'll describe them in full here.

To be clear, I'm playing this game for about 6 years now. I've seen a lot of things. 15000+ ping in prime time Cyrodiil, multiple rollbacks in a row, guildchat/trader meltdowns and whatnot. But comically enough, it's the first time I experience the issue I'll describe below.

So, yesterday me and 2 other people had a really fluctuating ping, like 180~800ms. One other person had a normal ping, but they would get endless loading screens when trying to teleport into the guild hall.

Come today, me and 1 another person have normal pings, but the game out of a sudden may boot you to the title/login screen with no message. Zoning into a house, or into a zone (Northern Elsweyr, western side of Stormhaven - just two examples) may turn into an endless loading screen (i had it run for 15 minutes with no result). Trying to log into the game often fails with errors 108 and 200, so it may take as many as 5 or even 10 tries to get into the game after being booted, or even just to log in for the first time.

We're all based in Russia, so maybe it's a networking issue, but it seems to affect only a portion of players. Players as far as 2000km apart, if I count just my guildies with this issue.

EDIT: my copy of ESO is a non-Steam version, if that is somehow related.

Based in France, all my guildmates are having the problem since last maintenance, tested with 0 addons. Non steam version too.

This maintenance indeed introduced constant disconnects.. Just when you think taht server lag and input delays are enough.

Can confirm

Playing on EU

I can get to char selection, then loading screen and crash.

After multiple tries to get in finaly managed, did a random vet - very, very lagy experience.
When we finished I tried to teleport back to Grahtwood only to crash again.

Now on my 8th atempt to login, but game keeps crashing.

Came here to see if others have same issue.

Based in France too, it's simple impossible to play in pve or pvp with the incredible latency. Any solution @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom ? Please as community managers COMMUNICATE something with us.

I have had a logging and loading problematic morning, location Germany:

- Endless loading screens when changing zones (had to quit game after nearly ten minutes)
- it didn't let me login (the popup said if I keep having issues should contact costumer services)
- or it threw me back to login mask when a char was loading.

I did not have such problems before the EU performance preparation downtime this week.
In between it worked again, but then I had enough and switched over to PTS^^

So far no more issues than normal for me, but I mainly did crafting writs and vet dungeons yesterday.
I quit PVP until they will fix the performance(if that will ever happen LOL).

I was sort of under the impression that the server upgrade was Soon™ and that the maintenance was to prepare for it.

@Elsonso The kicker is that these issues began after the maintenance. Raid night on wednesday was business-as-usual.

Who knows what they do when "making preparations to support increased server capacity". I certainly would not expect any performance increases out of "preparations", though. Given ZOS, apparently a performance decrease can be expected.

It was stated as preparation and I found performance to be atrocious last night... The skill delay was the worst for me its been, I pressed heal over 13 times and I started counting late 😂 my stage 4 health recovery healed me before my burst heal 😂

I am assuming they removed an older server/s and put a new one or several... Or something like that, which might explain why "preparations" made it worse.

PC/EU - I have the same issue, disconnects after desync and +999 ping, account already logged in.
Yesterday during SCP pledge I was experiencing mechs failing like 1 shot every time inside Spellbreaker's circle ( group wipe ) for like 10 times in a row. On subsequent run, the ads group before the alchemist boss failed to spawn so the door remained locked and we abandoned the dungeon once more. I presume it was not something related to my internet connection since the whole group experienced the same things and we literally live in different corners of Europe.
We hoped for some improvements after the maintenance, I guess we have to wait for the next one.
In the mean time, disconnects when I craft are not a tragedy ... I'll stick to my hammer and nails day to day business.

I had some lag spikes in veteran dungeons today, not too many but they were still noticeable.
The game is playable for me despite some occasional lag.

May we please get the zone you were in in-game when you experienced the disconnect, crash, or extremely long loading screen, the approximate time it happened, and your local time zone?

No random boots or crashes, but I don't think I've had a loading screen below 3 minutes between zones or character change and most are 5 minutes or more. And the 'random loading screen in the middle of nowhere' have seen a distinct uptick.

Sure.
I had connection issues from ~19:00 - 24:00 CEST (I stopped playing then) in "South Elswyr" and "The Rift".

It jumped to 999 Ping, but most times it recovered after 5 - 10 seconds.

PC/EU - Today, around 20:00 - 20:30 EET - disconnects and desync in Vvardenfell, Grathwood and Alik'r Desert.
Right now I'm in Craglorn, but the desync in this area seems to be fixed a while ago ( instead of desync I get "Cyrodill" type of short loading screens ). Anyway, Craglorn is better than the rest.

Random (zero depend from zone or time, 1 jump can be fine and next already failed, or few jumps is fine and next one - failed) endless loadscreen after try to change location (wayshrine, jump on ppl in contact list). off from game with "Unable to connect.. Check ur internet". Me last loadscreen with put me out from game- i tried go out from SO to Reaper with jump on guildmate. It my last action on account atm. PC EU.

It's totally random @ZOS_JessicaFolsom and still happening

I just got dropped to login while trying to connect a character.

A few minutes before, I've been dumped to login while zoning to Deeshan.

A bit sooner I had an infinite loading while going to the mechanical city.

After a drop, sometimes I try to reconnect and I get an unavaible server message.

Mails list takes takes minutes to show.

Alliance war takes 10 to 20 seconds to show server list.

1 or 2 hours ago, I've just crashed to desktop while in Deeshan doing nothing (I was afk). It happend to me several times today.

Ping is between 60 and 90.

Aside the usual skill delay and lag in Cyrodiil, we have tons of ultra short loading screens.

The point is (and this might be important) that since yersterday maintenance, we are having exactly the same problems than on the PTS.

It is a shame that these rumors persist. The EU server is much more modern. That computer uses punched tape. ESO is fully modern, and much smaller, as seen here. Notice the modern database storage system on the right.
