But the thing is that its also a common problem as soon you enter a dungeon or tries to find a group on chat.

The DPS race aspect hasn't really changed much. No reason you should let that prevent you from enjoying the game, though.

Solutions:
Ignore the toxic idiots
Get good guildmates for group content

Most of Greymoor is going to be questing and antiquities, neither of which will require high DPS. And Greymoor's new trial will be filled with random groups pulled from zone chat for a good while after release, so the DPS snobbery should be less for a while.

Yah, but the problem is when you have done most content, and like to try something a bit harder, it's where you find the most people that ruins the game, and were the DPS race is really stupid and out of balance

As you said, you love the TES lore so just ignore the content that involves the "toxic DPS race" if you dont like it.
Like 90% of the game doesnt require you to have insane dps, just play the game like how you would play a single player game.

If you feel like you missing out on content you paid for, there are plenty of like minded individuals you could find who prefer taking their time through a dungeon instead of rushing and nuking everything.

Hmm I echo what others have said about just ignoring the toxic players and enjoying the game at your own pace. I started out as a casual but I did want to do the hard content like vcr hm and vss hm so I taught myself and watched how more experienced players play. To be frankly honest, when you finally learn things like dps, healing, trial mechanics, sets, etc, it is frustrating when you encounter newer ppl who have yet to know those things. It's not their fault that they don't know what they don't know. Sadly that's where toxicity happens, especially in end game communities I've been part of. It goes back to the principle of forgetting where one came from once one is near the top.

I've even had two friends who were chill and tolerant of players with different skill levels but once we all started to get better, they started hanging out with some more 'competitive' (to put it nicely) community and they succumbed to having a toxic attitude themselves. Since we all started out the same, we sort of grew up together so they tried to invite me to join them. But I am not impressed by the kind of company they surrounded themselves with, despite those players having some of the hardest trial achievements in the game. I gradually stopped talking to them. I didn't care for that mindset. Behaviors like making fun of newer players through copy pastas, memeing them, generally feeding this stigma against the population of eso players who are not on the same 'tier' as them -- I see it all the time on some trial discords, and it rly says a lot about a person. It's almost like staying in that kind of environment rots their ability to empathize as human beings.

Tl;dr - Focus on what you enjoy the most about the game, and don't ever lose yourself or let your own thoughts be changed by lesser people, regardless of whether they are the best players or not. You didn't spend money and install this game for others, so don't play it for others.

Its important to identify the "carrots" in the game.

ESO Carrots:

-Developing your character - Includes combat skills, running through guild questlines, crafting professions, and raising your CP level. Unfortunately, once you get the the CP300+ level, this holds little appeal as you realize the game gets more broken, so this is mostly for people who are new and < CP300.

- DPS race- Its the only way the majority of endgame players can gauge their success. Its not so much about completing content, but how well/fast you can do it. This is probably because there is very little vertical progression.

-PVP titles- The only way to show success in PVP. Or maybe they just like the mild adrenaline rush they get from playing, and enjoy the QQ from those they defeat.

-Theorycrafting- Collecting sets and evaluating builds, trying to come up with something new and different that works. This involves playing on the PTS and being "ahead of the curve", figuring out things other players may have not. Watching youtube videos and twitch streams.

-Dungeons and Monster Set Collecting- This is fun for a few months. You can only run the dungeons so many times. Probably not fun as a tank or healer.

-Gold- Trading guilds are a huge part of the game. Vendor bidding, constructing a great guild hall, etc. Writs. Playing the AH.
Must like grinding/farming. The sad truth is that short of running writs on multiple crafters, there isn't a reliable way to make more money than mat farming.

-Housing/Fashion- Related to gold above, this is where the game enters "P2W" territory.

-VMA. This twitch game is a challenge unto itself.

-Questing/Exploration/Achievements/Casual- You really like clicking through the storylines. There is more narrative built into the quests, and they avoid the "collect ten banshee claws" tropes of other MMOs. But if there is a trope in ESO its "talk to this NPC. Then talk to that NPC. Then talk to THAT NPC." ad infinitum.

-QQing - Coming to the forums and complaining about the new patch. When you've invested a large part of your life into the game, you take things personally.


With the exception of new quests and territory, each expansion the game is remarkably similar. Must like questing or be invested in one of the other pursuits.
