hi all I have to share this. PLEASE PLEASE READ THIS FULL POST. For years I BLAME eso for lag and issues about LAG. I will start this story from the beginning.

[Ps PLEASE PLEASE DONT NOT TAKE THE IMPORT FROM A DIFFERENT PRIMARY PS4 OPTION. IF YOU FACTORY RESET(INITIALIZE)]

I have my ps4 for 5 years plus. As of yesterday it was so laggy I couldn't play. I check the ps4 speed test and my speed was way below the speed numbers. So I called my internet provider. After the call I increase my internet speed from 300 mgb to 1g speed. The game still was so lagging and unplayable. Finally I research how to fix.

After trying a bunch of stuff. I I ultimately factor reset my playstation. OMG THE DIFFERENT IN LAG IS AMAZING. Doing this was a PAIN. I had to redownload eso. BUT IT IS WORTH IT. It's a night and day different.

THE ANIMATION is smooth and respond like playing for the first time over 5 years ago...

Not sure if this also help but unfortunately I also deleted some games off ps4...

In not the most technical computer guy but this works. I swear. If by any Chance anyone from eso reads this PLEASE PLEASE TELL THE COMMUNITY IN A POST TO DO THIS. The ps4 hardware cant handle years of never seeing a system cleanse. I never ever knew that effects the performance. I'm sure most ps4 players are not aware of getting rid of old data. OR EVEN HOW

PLEASE PLEASE ESO LET THE COMMUNITY KNOW ABOUT MY STORY.

Pro tip: Having your games installed on an external drive is a major convenience.

I can't tell if the OP is being serious or just trying to spark some reactions, but in general yeah, you basically just refreshed your Console by wiping away any bad data that may have been "clogging" your system. That may improve it's ability to run games.

    I might try that. Thx

dl speed has little to do with game speed, it's all about ping. You're not sending/receiving bulk data.

    ...HUGH DIFFERENTS.

What you really need is some Hugh JACKMAN (wolverine) to come shred those bad data bugs! XD

In all seriousness, just running the equivalent of a repair on the game will be about the best results you can get. Isn't the PS4 on an SSD? There is no issue with fragmentation leading to seek thrashing on an SSD which would be the only thing that data sitting for a long time might cause, other than it just not working at all.

Also if your firmware is years out of data there might be some performance fix Sony has pushed to tweak how hardware performs and that might help, but it wouldn't require a complete wipe/reinstall of all games to do it.

Just update your firmware and run a repair on the game. Anything more is probably placebo effect.

I knew this was fack as soon as they said "So I called my internet provider. After the call I increase my internet speed from 300 mgb to 1g speed" which I thought was funny since ANY time you get an upgrade on your internet they don't just hit a switch on there side "the service provider" that they have to send a technician out to your location and make sure you have the proper equipment and when talking about 1g speed also requires the company to make sure where you live has access to those speeds. Go thanks for the information but sorry stop telling lies ✌

I swear on my life this is a true story and my god strike me down if I'm lying. I really did increase my speed thinking this would help...honestly I even have pictures of before and after I honestly just dont know how to post a picture on here. Also I dont have anything to prove. Hopefully this will help others

Yeah I'm NOT FACTORY resetting my PC

I'll put up with the lag

[snip]. So nah... you don't want to mess with a total reset of your PC. In all the years I've had PCs (since 1984) I've never once reset to factory settings on any machine. Then again.... aside from my first two machines, I've never had a box that was "factory" anything until the last couple.

I just got to the point where I wasn't willing to build them myself any more. But these last two build to order boxes were and are really quality machines. Funny - I never thought I'd get to where I wouldn't want to go to the effort of building a machine myself. But that was before I got old!

Honestly, I've just reinstalled the game and that alone reduced my lag and increased my frames. But it seems to last only a handful of months at most.

Hopefully it will last us until ps5. I'm not a big tech guy and hopefully I'm not super off topic. But if I'm going to keep buying consoles. Know what I know now, the advantage is to guilt free wipe them. You really dont have that kind of peice of mind with PC. HOPEFULLY THEY MAKE IT MORE UNDERSTANDABLE for advantage Joe. To rebuild the data base and factory reset. Because I had no idea it make this much of a difference. It's a HUGE SELLING POINT

Wow I'm not a tech guy but I'm rethinking my steps. Did you import option for another ps4 account. Do not take that option.(I'm going to write this step in post now) I think somehow it can remember data or something. Also if you play eso mostly try to delete older game you dont play.... hopefully one of the tech guys can help past that.

    THESE STEPS WORK FOR ME.

Hate to tell you but all you needed to do was boot your PS4 in safe mode and then choose “rebuild database” - nothing changes but makes a world of difference. I do it once a week (y)

Thanks for the help. I honestly should of ask the forum for advice. In my case the database REBUILD didn't work. It could be because I never done one before. I had my ps4 for like 5plus years. I PRAY ps5 makes data REBUILD much easier to understand and do. The YouTube channel that show me how to REBUILD data said I should do 1 every 2 to 3 months.
