PC NA No Steam. Bad lag delays for the past hour or two but just was in the middle of a simple pve fight and got an error. Game crashed before I could read the error.

Heading into my maintenance procedures now: Walking away and getting a cup of coffee.
Thanks for looking into this, Sarah.

Not having any issues, two accounts, both are steam bought, but the old ones where you can still use it without steam. Dunno how it qualifies.

Not using Steam, PC NA, ping hovering between 250-400 constantly, with plenty of full ping spikes to "999+" skills and interactions are delayed by 3-4 seconds.

Just throwing into the pile here. Had bad ping spikes all morning, and finally god DC'd and haven't been able to log back in since. Been probably half an hour now since the DC.

Steam PC, can't log in. Regular PC CAN log in (on son's account) Both on same PC.

Edit: In other words, only steam account is having log in issues.

Imagine getting hoodwinked into buying game on Steam. There should be some sort of program to allow people to switch off the platform.

My goodness, finally we get some acknowledgement about this!
Some of us have been trying to bring up this packet loss issue for 5-6 days now with no response from support.

Affected are - PC-NA, both Steam and non-Steam users.
Doesn't matter whether weekend or weekday.

Ran the repair function. Same results.

I have another online game on Steam. Logged in on that one just fine.

Don't know why people think Steam has anything to do with ESO server issue, once the luancher is open steam is just an overlay.

Its because the login server is different for eso website launcher and steam eso launcher. Steam eso launcher you dont have a login screen at all. Non steam players have to put in their account name and password to login. So each version is slightly different for start up which can cause issues for steam players when steam is having issues vs non steam players. Folder locations also are slightly different for both versions. Also, steam eso has extra files which are about 25gb bigger than non steam eso players because of extra language files included with steam eso. So they are very different coding wise.

Same, both servers. First super lag then kicked off and can’t get back on.

You also cannot login through the non steam launcher if u have steam eso. So there are big differences in some of the coding and programs that cannot be converted over without purchasing a whole new game. So it only makes sense that when steam is having issues, that steam eso users also have issues.

Yes, but none of that has anything to do with the ESO megaserver. Once you see the megaserver blurbing news at you, you're past anything steam affects. If the game failed to launch or is crashing to desktop without a DC notice, that's something Steam could affect. Ping issues and server DCs followed by failure to log back in, that's ESO megaserver.

Actually incorrect. The news blurb screen is still affected by steam. As I said above, steam users dont have to type in their login credentials while non steam users thats the screen where we type our info in. And it doesnt seem to be the server itself having the biggest issues, it seems its the login server. As people are having troubles even logging in and getting to character screen.

There is separate servers, but based on posts here, it doesn't seem to be a specific steam issue.

I am assuming they are getting slaughtered with PTS downloads etc. Tried to do a Vet Cloudrest run last night and it was like Cyrodill in there. Bailed out hour later (9:00 PM was raid time EST - So during Prime Time).

Posted about this last night around midnight.

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/522624/pc-na-massive-lag-rollbacks-logouts
I just wanted to play around with my magicka warden's gear and maybe do a little fishing, but on two separate internet connections the game is utterly unplayable.

Assigning skillpoints kept rolling back, making me assign them again, frequently with load screens, then I just hit 20k ms lag and get booted. After a few tries at this I walked away for an hour and came back, switched from my DSL to my satellite internet, and experienced the same horrible lag and logouts on a completely separate connection.

I am on the US west coast. As I said, I have two separate internet connections through two different companies, both work fine for anything else, NEITHER work with ESO.

I was thinking maybe it was a bad router as some people were having the issue and some not, however using VPN to tunnel in from the east coast, or Europe, seemed to make no difference.

I'm curious if this is an internet node issue somewhere. I'm located on the west coast of Canada - could not get into my EU character about an hour ago (login worked, but I was kicked out while trying to load my character). I'm in now (PC/EU), but have a 400+ms ping time, vs the normal of about 200ms (using /latency, fps is normal).
While waiting earlier to see if the issue would clear, I tried another game and it worked, but a resource website that I use was VERY slow, despite being a very simple old-school site - 208.86.227.2 - theoretically hosted in Durham, North Carolina. No idea if this is connected or not - does anyone have a heatmap of current known internet issues or something?

Update: also still getting terrible latency on PC/NA - 400-999+ ms ping. I have to be really careful to play in slideshow mode - press a key to loot (or interact with a merchant etc.), then wait .... until I get a response. Repeat pressing of an interaction key (to try speed things up or just in case it didn't work) just gets you booted from the server.
Also, I notice that bank interactions work fine - so probably not a database issue.

I have more lag than I've ever had this morning. Checked everything ie ISP, modem etc. Restarted computer. Couldn't log in to game. Kept giving me an error. Now it let me in, but the lag is making the game unplayable.

ETA: I don't use Steam to log in so I don't think it's a Steam issue. Was chatting and doing other things on Steam this morning and had no trouble doing that. I'm always that person shaking my head at all the complaints on the forums about lag. I've been blessed to not have a problem with it until today. Now I know how frustrating it is. Hitting a bunch of keys to make things happen and my toon just stands there. It's maddening.

If you have a VPN you can try connecting to exit nodes on the east coast or europe or canada. Many times this will help navigate around a bad hop issue as the VPN server connection takes a route around it. Sometimes not however, and I have not had any luck personally.

I think this is a ZOS megaserver instancing issue however, as no other websites or services are having any trouble with slowness for me.

Funny thing, I also was able to update the last of the PTS I hadn't download and it was capping my internet connection, so at least some aspects of ZOS's service are able to function.

Just not the game itself. :p
