Does anyone play in that aspect ratio?
If so what kinda of build would I need to run it smoothly

✭Yes, it is playable. I play with that resolution. From my experience resolution doesn't matter a lot in regards of fps. You may want to change FOV to the value that is most comfortable to you.
Examples:

My computer is rather old, more than 5 years already (i7-4790 @ 3.6 GHz), I changed only graphic card to GTX 1080 Ti. In areas without a lot of players with a lot of effects I usually have 80 - 100 fps. In Alinor on busy day fps may fall to 40 sometimes. Sometimes there are also fps drops right after loading screen when teleporting to new shrine that don't last long, after a few seconds fps returns to normal 80+ in those areas. That is with every graphic setting on maximim (depth of field disabled, I hate it).The Three Storm Sharks, episode 8 released on january the 8th.

Aznox✭✭✭✭✭I have played ESO for years at 3440x1440 and i had no problem with it for as long as i can remember.
As for performance, before my last GPU upgrade i was on "ultra -1" setting with 95% of below 60fps dips not related to GPU (CPU bound).
Now with a GTX2080 and everything maxed out, i'd say 99% of below 60fps dips are CPU related.
I can only recommend you to perform this Ultrawide Ascension

i9 9900K @ 5 GHz here with a GTX 2080Ti. EVGA Black Edition.
Was playing at 2560x1600 @60Hz but just 'upgraded' to 3440x1440 @120Hz with GSync. Dell.
Obviously ping remains the same, with drops on loading to any new zone. Recently loading seems much worse with longer load times in the last few weeks; taking longer to stablise.
Frame rates have improved with the new monitor and seem more stable. Once loaded I see 120fps most of the time, even in busy areas and PvP. They do drop in capital cities when players are dueling using AoEs. Large zergs have the same effect but I feel this is due to poor pings. Occasionally drops to mid 80s.
The stable image quality of the 3440x1440 monitor is very similar to my old 25600x1600. The movement quality is vastly superior. Even moving my mouse pointer across the desktop is more fluid and less jerky. In ESO I've kept the graphics settings on very high - same for both monitors. Non-ESO games give better performance with the new monitor.
Is ultrawide a good thing? Well I really miss the screen height of my old 16:10 2560x1600 monitor. I'm moving my mouse more to look up or down - think dragons from the skies - but getting used to it. Love the performance and screen width. GSync is great.
Now the LG 38L950G has dropped in price (a little), I'm tempted, but it is so expensive and only 12 months warranty. 5 years with the Dell.
With a i5 6600K at 4.5 ghz I do not think an i7 would improve ESO a lot. 2080Ti and 32Gb of ram at 3200 would help. Overclocking the i5 would help a little as well.

I was looking to get the i9900k with 2080ti but I decided to wait for the 3000 series
For now I might be looking to just upgrade the graphics card temporary till the new series comes out and maybe try myself at 3440 x 1440 p with that card.
Sadly I want to play at 100+ hz ultra wide so i dont see any way around getting a really good card right now 2070 or better.
Hope HDR 600+ become affordable

MudcrabAttack✭✭✭✭✭I've been playing the game in windowed mode of a 3840x2160 display. The window is approximatly 3800x1440 pixel dimensions so I could keep an eye on discord, a web browser and Netflix. The edges of the narrow display are somewhat distorted, but the wider view helps me see more of a fighting area to avoid running into traps, like ghosts in fang lair HM.
With a GTX 1070 and ultra settings, it's usually 60-100 fps with no action on screen, and I've seen it dip as low as lower 30's fps in very crowded areas. I haven't really tried checking how low it drops during 12 player raids, but I don't really feel bothered since I'm used to playing with an old 30HZ ultra HD display. And my CPU is a Threadripper 1950X, which sees maybe 20% load with the game.1 -
Protoavis73✭✭✭Working fine here at 3440x1440, most things at max, textures at supreme (with Votans graphic addon) and I think I've dialed down the shadows somewhat. Even got a reshade running (Uber fidelity III).
Intel i7 8700K at 4.8GHz and a GTX1080Ti card.
Rarely drops below 60fps.1 -
Ruder✭✭✭✭For 100fps at 3440x1440p you need GTX 1080/RTX 2070 and higher
However these 100 fps will be in nonepopulated areas, because the more people are on your screen the more your CPU single core is struggling with the frames, I would recommend you to wait for the Ryzen 4000 series or 10th Gen Intel and OC it to 5ghz1 -

Every MMO is CPU bound.

Time for an update - is 100fps achievable at 3440x1440?
I've been monitoring my fps since first posting. Mainly completing crafting writs with 16 alts on EU, 18 alts on NA and a second NA account with 7 alts. Some pugs as a tank or healer, a delve a day on each account, and a few hours PvP on NA to break the boredom. My fingers and wrists are sore.
I am really pleased with the Anniversary Event - it's great for anyone interested in crafting, and my new baby Grand Master Crafter is up to 36/50 motifs.
Average fps is still around 100.
Lowest fps was 65.
This thread was about computer specifications for 3440x1440, but by watching my fps over the last week I feel the biggest factor is ping. My normal ping is 120 to 160. As soon as it goes higher fps drops. My best fps results were on the EU server during very quiet times, and worst NA PvP prime time - although NA Reapers March came close during prime time (70fps and 650 ping). Oddly when i re-logged onto my next alt for crafting writs - same server/same area, fps was back to 100.Maybe a new shard? Not counting ping spikes during loading.
Maybe those with better broadband could enlighten me?
