Routing issues to PC NA from Europe (resolved)

There were issues with increased ping in December so maybe something is happening again. Today ping to PC NA server is extremely high, always more than 700, very often 999+ resulting in lost connection with server. Normal ping to PC NA is 230 - 250.
The results of ping command is 'Request timed out.' four times out of four.
The result of tracert command:

Those request time outs were always there, last time I checked was 2 years ago, same thing, but ping was 200-250 ingame

Maybe you are right, I don't remember doing tracert at normal times, but certainly route to Netherlands (93.191.173.145) from United Kingdom (23.57.100.251) should not be so high.

Why would you connect to PC-NA from Russia ?

Also those 93.191.173.x IP you get routed through look a bit suspicious :

    https://stat.ripe.net/93.191.173.11#tabId=at-a-glance

Edit : that is probably part of Akamai US infrastructure incorrectly declared as geolocated in Netherlands (for ... reasons ?), explaining the latency jump

I think, but I'm no expert, so don't quote me on that, that some servers are set up to decline/not respond to ping and tracert requests in order to minimize load. If there were an actual 100% loss of packets you wouldn't even get a connection at all. Take ping and traceroute tests with a grain of salt.

I'm having an average latency of 240-260 on PC NA server, sometimes a bit less and sometimes a bit more.
There are lag spikes but the connection is stable.
Note: I'm far away from North America...
Some videos I recorded for fun: Main character:
PC EU main: Universe - AD magicka Sorcerer, Former Emperor, Grand Overlord, The Merciless, Trial Bosses Solo Champion
Top alts: Genius(stamina/sagicka Dragonknight) The Force(stamina Nightblade) and other chars.
PC NA main: The Magic - AD magicka Sorcerer

Pretty much the same here, except that my average latency is around 200-220. And I connect to NA from eastern Europe.

Yes, there is the occasional lag spike - but they are quite rare, and that's a small price to pay for playing on a (mostly) working server.

I used to have 210-220 latency and with less lag spikes there, something has changed with the server performance.
I guess the higher ping is due to the anniversary event(server is overcrowded).
It may also be something else.

I play on PC NA from launch. It is more comfortable to me as I play at off-peak hours.

Yeah, not 100%, but the loss (or delay) is very significant.

That is exactly how it is usually for me. It was so yesterday morning and evening.

P.S. It is much better now and trace routing shows not so huge delays between 23.57.100.251, 93.191.173.145 and 93.191.173.11.
