I think there's a lot of support from many areas of the player population for what ZOS state they want to achieve. The general stance for many is the proposed method does not achieve it and that there are better means to get there; feedback and alternative implementations have been offered which strike perfect balance and actually do bring ZOS design goal to realization:

I think anything other than the ongoing radio silence, especially in view of the greymoor previews, would be hugely beneficial to ZOS right now.
