Banning from Disconnects

In case some of you don't know this, some of the worst duping comes from people disconnecting on purpose (wont go into how) and crashing small sections of the server.

If you are getting disconnected because of your machine or internet connection, don't log back in right away.

The reason is that the server still thinks you are logged in till it times you out, even if you have been disconnected.

Wait about 5 minutes to let the server have time enough to log your character off the server. Otherwise, it's possible for the bot routines to see you as doing this multiple character in game thing and flag you as a duper, since the server thinks you are in there twice.

Enough times and banzzor.

This is typical the routine for this situation and should be your normal practice if you have disconnecting problems.

Zos feel free to comment if this is not the case in your game.

Maybe that will motivate you to not have a *** computer/internet connection.

It may have nothing to do with either... could be a problem down the pipe, or just something wrong that day or whatever.

Not a bad point, however I've been disconnected in cyrodiil like 23484347 times and I have not been banned .. yet. I always try and reconnect, sometimes I connect right away, sometimes I get the never ending loading screen.

Yeah, I am obviously not saying this is the case for all the bannings, just bringing up a point some may not think of. When you are disconnected your char usually remains for a couple of minutes in game and when you log in too fast you actually force log off your already in game char.

This can be detected by dupe routines and flagged.

I was getting disconnected repeatedly because of an ISP issue last night. I've had a technician come out earlier today and replaced my modem. I got disconnected to character select this afternoon while deconstructing woodworking items in Daggerfall. I logged right back in and continued deconing the items in my inventory and got dropped to the login screen. "Account information is incorrect, please try again". Pressed F1 to go to account page, "You have been suspended from the site". I really hope they figure out the difference between players getting disconnected and people duping. This is out of control.

Yeah, see the problem here is that completely separate of the guild dupe, this disconnecting thing is how many dupe bugs work in a very simplistic way of talking about it.

What happens now is you have to deal with CSR dept and hope they have the competence to investigate what you were really doing.

The ban almost certainly not a result of the disconnect. I was disconnected but instead of logging back in, I quit the game in order to get a few other things taken care of. Much later, and without ever attempting to log into the game, I attempted to log into my customer account and was notified of the ban at that time.

I never said specific bans were because of this. I am just giving a tip to people that may not know this happens when you log back in while your character is still technically online.

And yes... it does happen exactly like I describe when you dison and reconnect.

BTW... your flagging for whatever the reason was, may have been done weeks or months ago in most games.

Obviously in this one, it could have only been since launch, but these big round up type suspensions are after pretty lengthy times usually.

It could have been something you were doing last week that they flagged you on.
