Maybe it's because people are busy actually playing the game instead of watching someone else do it? :) I know I am. How many of those "ESO is dying" threads do we need anyway? It's getting kinda boring. Go play something else if you find this game so terrible.

But if they did that, that game would be dying too!

Is the streaming/twitch community really an indicator of the game's health?

    I kinda doubt that.

It is not an overall indication of game health but it speaks a lot to what people who have built their brands behind ESO think of the game. In turn, those bigger streamers playing other games more often than they normally would says to the general masses of people who watch twitch that may try ESO on a whim that the game isn't worth it and to move on to something else. When enough new players stop playing and the veteran players also start leaving you have a negative rate of player retention and a recipe for disaster for the life of the game.

ESO is not a game to play, not watch.

    You couldn't be more incorrect.

Any game can be a game to watch. It's not like television shows or movies. Back when the NES first came out, people would huddle around a TV to watch one guy move 8 bit characters around. Shared experiences, friendship, community, etc. When people like something enough, they'll gather around it when there's enough shared interest. Except for Battletoads. No one played Battletoads.

The problem is the gathering part. ESO is seemingly on the struggle bus at the moment. Perhaps it'll come out of it for the better. Who knows.

I don't know how many people paid attention at the time and caught it, but when ZOS had their grand live Twitch reveal for the Greymoor chapter, SypherPK was part of the lineup. He acknowledged during that stream that he was 'sponsored' by ZOS.

That statement spoke volumes about ZOS's internal confidence in their own product's appeal.
