Agree. A lot of Streamers in the past that dedicated their Streams to ESO either no longer play ESO or no longer Stream. Not exactly sure why but my Follower list of ESO Streamers went from twenty to three and even those three are Streaming other games now.

The hard core PVE ESO Streamers I watched for years just disappeared.

I don’t know about streamers being an indication of anything, but when people devoted enough to have every crafting station in the game stop playing, that’s an issue I see.

Well when the game lacks direction and you finally find a build you like after 3 years that isn't meta, isn't OP, and isn't a problem, but have to change it and all your other character's builds over and over because ZOS likes making drastic changes with little explanation or valid rationale, what do you honestly expect to happen?

Just two patches ago I started using arch-mage set for my hybrids (like it more over senchal since no stacking BS, plus mag recovery and spell damage), now it's getting changed to fit another change I think is garbage. Can you guess how much I like the changes? :)

Serious question but surely most players play the game rather than watch someone else play it?

Is the streaming/twitch community really an indicator of the game's health?

The ESO twitch community is fun to be a part of, you can get to know other players that stream, and other players in those streams. you can ask questions and get different insights. its like the next level of a forum imo.

I go to Twitch these days to see what people are playing, what games are popular and why. You can tell a games' popularity, by its streamers and viewers because Twitch is such a huge part of the gaming community now it would be naive to not take it into account

At a macro level, I guess it could be an 'indicator' but it definitely is not in direct correlation to the games health.

I always thought the only sure way to know if a game was dying was when random people on a forum said it was.

Streamers are here to make money. Streaming game play is their job. They'll jump to whatever game has the most interest and can generate the most income for them. Every year you'll see an increase of streamers and youtube info videos when the latest ESO chapter drops. Then it dies down.

Streamers depend on followers, and maybe too many followers have realised that it's more fun to play the game than it is to watch someone else playing it.

Thats what happens when zos releases a performance patch that makes performance exponentially worse across all playstyles, and when they release a bonkers patch note suggestion that makes the game turn into a turn based rpg pretty much. No one wants to play , or watch such a mess.

Same here, i spent years fixing up my builds to fit my playstyle, and then in one swift move, ZOS decides to neuter all of them, and the irony is the meta builds are going to be STRONGER from this. Its ludicrous.

You got to admit...ESO streamers content can be a bit boring unless they're pretty engaging with their followers. Only a few come to mind.

When I’m running a couple side quests at 3 in the morning and watching 5 other people show up clearing the same content at the same time I would say the game has enough players. Crafting tables are completely surrounded after writs drop too.

And Dolemans are glitchy as hell because way too many players on some of them especially near the starter towns in each zone. Horrible for lag, decent for free loot though. Zero effort for free stuff.

XB1 NA server. Also Tamriel is on game pass so I’m sure that’s got a lot to do with it. Less overcrowding in DLC zones but still plenty of players.

i beg to differ, many do sure, but there are some who stream for the sake of entertainment.

for instance look at the vinesauce crew, they turn down any and all sponsers and dont play what they dont like

ESO is not a game to play, not watch.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Watching noobs run around like a chicken without a head is probably more entertaining TBH. Especially if the commentary is on point. The purpose of some people is to entertain, whether they actually play the games well is another story all together. I’ve seen lots of popular streamers that suck at games but they are engaging with the audience.

There's a valid point in there. There are several streamers who are by no means the best players, but they have fun, do silly stuff and have a laugh with their viewers with a lively chat going on throughout. Entertainment skills are not always the same as game play skills.

Why would I want to watch someone else play the game when I can play it myself?
Shortly after the formation of the Ebonheart Pact, a Nord woman was given a tour of the Tribunal Temple. When later asked about the experience, she seemed upset. Suffice to say, the Dunmer were not pleased to hear this, and thus they inquired further.
"Well," the Nord frowned, "the priests were very angry and unwelcoming. They kept shouting things at me like "you can't drink that mead in here!" and "somebody stop her, she's running naked!" and "we can't catch her; she's covered in grease!""

Maybe it's because people are busy actually playing the game instead of watching someone else do it? :) I know I am. How many of those "ESO is dying" threads do we need anyway? It's getting kinda boring. Go play something else if you find this game so terrible.
