Hiya a question here is about the current coronavirus

I've notice other online game have offered a couple of weeks premium and other things to help those who are locked down or isolated for their own health. I was wondering is ESO where going to do something? I want to state it does not affect me in anyway as i've got a year of eso plus paid for. Now i might have missed something that has been announced but i think is will help members of our ESO community.

Amazed at all the looking for a handout. Pretty sure Zos - ESO is effected just like everyone else. They are going to see financial impacts also.

I think honestly we should be grateful they are still managing to run the servers and give us all the opportunity to make the best of staying home in isolation.

I have a ticket in and it’s been several days but truthfully thinking it might just take a while to get a response. And I am good with that.

Not sure why any free or extra things should come from them since they are keeping things going.

I work as an essential infrastructure employee for local Government so no stay home for me. But in my time at home I am very thankful to be able to log on for entertainment.

I don't think it means "everyone is looking for a handout". I think the main idea of the OP is ZOS going to do anything. We can assume that ZOS may have an economic downswing, but we have no idea as to what their budget really looks like. In consideration of the pandemic, and really everything, you are right that we should be grateful of what we have.

I hope they can work, even if it is a sacrifice to their bottom line, to encourage people to stay in, and even offer discounts, events, ect as they have a platform to help people. I also feel that their player base will probably will take a bigger hit. I know the concept of service and giving is foreign to a lot of people, I served two combat rotations in Iraq and taught 10 years in urban ed. So a life of service and giving isn't anything new. I do feel that at this moment, we need to explore past models and the normalcy of business as usual and recognize that in this moment it isn't really a viable model. We need to look towards models of solidarity. Zos can for sure have a role in this, as players should also keep in mind that for some guildies and long time friends from the game, may being going through some really rough waters.

Also, too bad to here that you don't get to work satellite. My sister does collections for US bank and somehow is considered essential. She currently has all the symptoms of COVID but isn't able to get tested until her temp hits 103 (it's at 98). She's the fifth person at her work site to leave with all of the symptoms.....

So you're right, be grateful that there is something to play but ZOS can look past it's bottom line and think of it's potential role in society.

The game can be played without a sub, so not sure what benefit some Free ESO Plus would do. Not saying it is a bad idea, just questioning the benefit, as it is offered a few times a year already.

However, it would be nice to throw the community a bone during these trying times. Maybe some Crowns so we could buy a nice shiney.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I figure the same, something like 750 crowns and like 250 crown gems - nothing too overboard, just enough to get one or two nice items.

The companies that are offering free or reduced cost services and the like are doing a good in my book, but I don't expect any of them to do things like that. It would be nice if ZOS would offer something like a few Crown Crates or a month of free ESO+ or some such, but I'm not going to ask for it or anticipate it.

The utter selfishness displayed in this thread...

I'd link you to a video on the BBC News website posted earlier there, but frankly, it's too graphic.

But you know where to go if you want to see for yourself what this virus does to people.

I think some of you will then reconsider how unimportant a literal video game is right now.

If you go to the BBC News website, you have been warned.

ESO+ is not needed to play the game.

But limited time free access to the game without needing to buy it could allow many stuck at home to try it, pass their isolation time more easily, and maybe later purchase the game and add to the player base.

    Hi there

Thanks all, for the responses and some provoking ideas. I would like to see if ESO has any thoughts.

let me give a little context. My job is youth worker, working with young people who are on the edges of society. I am recovering from a mild case of convig 19 (all is good) and next week I will be able to resume job as a key worker working with families in need. I think it's good to work with the communities to help them help others.

The issue with many youth is not sickness at this time but boredom, going stir crazy and social Isolation which can be a very lonely, scary and creates pressure within the family which can affect mental health and be very harmful.

What impresses me with a lot of ESO guilds is they create online communities, good guilds which offer a safe place for people of all ages to chill in and immerse themselves in the ESO. (or other games).

behind it all the wider ESO community across the globe will all be effected with the pandemic.

So the question is what can we and/ESO do to help? Can (we) and ESO as a community help in this time of fear, loneliness social pressure and offer something that will be of benefit to the wider world?

    Thoughts?

You seem like an extremely productive person. However, I think that sadly the forums are a poor place to get productive responses. (look at a majority of the comments).

It is a really interesting idea for game companies to offer rewards, events, discounts ect to encourage people to stay indoors. That would obviously benefit everyone in society. I hope ZOS sees this thread and consider how they can use ESO to get people indoors, help provide entertainment, and destress. I know right now there is a flood of players that are home from school (hence more toxicity) but also health care workers, people with kids, teachers, service workers ect, and everyone in general that is trying to grasp the reality of living through a pandemic that will continue until there is a vaccine.

It's a great idea, ZOS, please consider productive parts of this thread.
You can take an active roll and use your game to help people at this time.

oh, on what planet does this make sense.

At least this game forum isn't as bad as a certain one where players were asking for free dlc (that game recently had a dlc release a few weeks ago) and were threatening to quit if the devs didn't comply.

    Comparatively speaking, this is benign.

    Hiyas
Just to clarify I'm not after any handouts or anything shiney for myself or anyone else. I am asking if ZOS and the ESO community can do something to help, like some of the other online games which may help in these times when all sectors of society are under pressure.

Again I need to stress that I won't benefit for freebies as i've a years membership already, and if the answer from ZOS is no we have nothing planned or no intention of actively doing anything at present then that's fine and the question has been asked.

This is not aimed as a pressure post or a trolling to bait people and will not impact negatively on my positive feelings towards the game and the wider community.

    ;-)

Given how widespread the response has been from other companies, I was expecting a 100% exp boost to come. But I think with jester's festival starting, perhaps that is enough?

The cynic in me thinks there are plenty of reasons that they aren't giving ESO+ or anything like that away during this period, heh.

I, cannot see any legitimate reasoning why ZOS should give it's players anything special in reaction to people having to stay home from work. (lucky hoarkers, I'm "essential"...)

Honestly, just why? Isn't the sudden increase in availability to play enough for you? You've basically been given a free vacation here while I still have to continue my 13hr shifts. I remain with my normally scheduled play time while having to risk exposure by going to work, while those of you falling under the stay at home orders get to play whenever you want AND you're asking for extras.

I agree with you, on the premise that we should not be expecting freebees in this situation.

However, not everyone is getting a free paid vacation.
Im under work from home so I dont get any extra time to play either.
Im in a day long group chat with my co-workers and boss to make sure we are working and not playing/goofing off.
Some of my co-workers are already starting to go stir crazy being isolated in the house not being able to do parts of their job that require them to be out in the public.

Regardless, my hat goes off to those essential workers that have to continue to do their jobs during this crisis.
I particularly feel for the health care workers who have to work with patients and for whom supplies and equpiment necessary to do their jobs are getting short on supply.

Currently microsoft and zos are having issues with ESO plus working properly. It keeps disappearing for a lot of people and they have been working on a fix for a week now. Did you see the notice at the top of the forum? If they open it up for everyone, or to get new players to come play the game, they might as well open pandoras box. The forum would be full of complaints about how it is not working and that's the last thing Zos wants right now with so many other issues plaguing this game.

I agree to an extent, although I think the idea of a vaccine solving everything is overly optimistic, to say the least, given that viruses mutate roughly every 2 weeks.

They never manage to get the right strain of flu, in the flu vaccine, for that reason.

Still, it's another nice little earner for big pharma...

Best you can really hope for is that the virus will mutate into something more benign (or less deadly), like the 1918 flu virus did.

Which it probably will, as killing your hosts isn't normally the best survival strategy.

You know lots of self employed people are getting nothing for staying at home (in the UK, anyway).

Many, especially those who earn very little anyway (which is a lot of them), won't be able to afford to feed themselves and pay their bills.

    Hardly a "vacation".

I would rather see Zos announce donations or providing sometime of financial aid to others that need it - like those out of a job, with the virus then give me a mount or a week of free eso+

I want to see all companies be part of the solution and not hoard their reserves. Everyone is in this together and everyone across the board needs to feel the pinch.
